The
intrepid duo head directly to Jagmo's house. They speak with a woman who we'll
assume is Jagmo's wife. Sunil tells her that he is a friend of Jagmo's, and is
here to see him. She lets them in, but Jagmo's not at home. She seats them in a
parlor and goes to get some tea. Devi is frustrated that he isn't there. Sunil
finds a picture of him and asks if she recognizes him. She says that this isn't
the man from her dream - he was bald.
As she makes this announcement, Jagmo enters and asks who they are. His wife comes back into the room to explain that his friends are there to see him, but he says he doesn't know them and tells them to leave. After they're gone, Jagmo tells his wife not to let strangers into the house. Then he puts out a cigarette on her neck. Not kidding.
Jagmo watches them leave from an outdoor balcony. He hears them discussing going to Parvathi's house, and goes inside to call her. He tells her to have her maid tell them that she's out of town for the next ten days, and does not have her forwarding address. And that's exactly what happens! Sunil tells Devi they're going home, and will pick up where they left off after Parvathi gets back.
Sunil
gets a call at home from an anonymous source that claims to have some evidence
for him. He gives instructions to meet at a junkyard nearby right away. Sunil
hops on his bike and heads over. A bunch of weird people with funky masks on
begin crawling out of the wrecked cars and advancing on him. We also see that
Jagmo is among their ranks. There is a strange action sequence where Sunil zooms
around on his bike for a while until he is knocked off of it. We have a minute
or two of our standard Bollywood kung fu battles until Sunil is finally subdued.
As the gang is preparing to land the telling blow, a nearby gate opens and
menacing footsteps are heard. Ram strolls in and starts beating up the thugs.
Fans of "The Simpsons" may recall Mrs. Krabapple telling Milhouse that his science project was "Pret-ty lame." That's all I could think of as this fight unfolds. Half of it is sped-up to look more exciting, the other half is in slow motion allowing us to see that they are not even close to actually hitting each other. (sigh)
After
Ram deals with a few of them, Sunil breaks free and joins in. This fight goes on
for a lot longer than it needs to, especially given the bad blocking of the
fight moves. In fairness, some of the stunts do look tough to pull off, and it
really is the actors doing them. However, I think we need a lot of work on this
one. As you can see in the shot to the right, that's the actual frame where the
foot was supposed to connect. Right after this the other guy jumped and spun
like he'd been hit. Oh, and this is done in slow motion, so you can't miss the
fact he missed him by a mile. The man that's been "kicked" spins himself to his
left, but in the next scene he is flipping head over feet onto a car. Ah well.
Once all the hooligans have been defeated, Sunil asks Ram why he's there. They both had received calls, but Ram was supposed to come two hours later, presumably to find Sunil's body. However, he left as soon as he got the call, and arrived just in time! They congratulate each other and walk off.
Jagmo
is watching from his parked car. As Sunil passes (in completely different
clothes, mind you) on his bike Jagmo pulls out and follows him. He rams the back
wheel of Sunil's bike and sends him flying through the air.
Back at Devi's place, she's serving Ram some tea. Ram is concerned that she isn't pregnant yet, since they are 100 days into their marriage. Apparently that's the benchmark in India. I'll put the screens up of this conversation. I would be accused of making it up otherwise. Please enjoy the discussion on the following page!
