Well
I hope you weren't too frightened, as this was only a red herring. Turns out her
visitor is her old friend Sunil, back from his trip to London. He told her he
wanted to scare her as payback for that night of insanity at her hostel in
college. They spend some time catching up, and Sunil expresses his sympathy for
her sister's disappearance. Devi says that she knows Rama is dead, and will
never come back (I hope not, I've seen
other movies
where that happened).
There is a hideously loud noise on the soundtrack, then Sunil asks how she can say that. She tells him it is because she saw it in her vision, and they are never wrong. He starts teasing her and tells her that he still has the wedding ring for her. He also demands that she perform in a musical number with him in three days. She doesn't seem interested but he sweet talks her into going along with it.
At the show, the announce tells us that the guest of honor is none other than Mr. Ram Kumar. He lists many wonderful things Ram's done for the community, then asks him to come up to say a few words. As this is going on, Devi looks thoughtful and gives off the air of "Oh, well perhaps I was wrong about him!"
Ram
takes the stage and reads a mushy love letter from himself to Devi in front of
the whole audience. Devi gets blushy as she listens to his little poetic verses.
Ram thanks the audience for their indulgence, then hops off the stage to sit on a little red couch with a woman we don't know.
The song is about to begin, but one must call attention to the giant, anatomically correct picture of a heart on the wall behind them. There are little foil hearts hanging from the ceiling as well as other heart decorations, but they're all of the Valentine's Day variety. This big veiny diagram stands out and is a little nasty.
Anyway, the stage is set for the big number. Please enjoy "Lele Dil."

This is a fairly catchy tune, if you can get past the clothes Sunil's wearing. Something about a man in a glittery cowboy outfit waving streamers doesn't quite sit well here. While the song is going on, little flirty glances pass between Devi and Ram. Uncle Wujek also notices them making eyes at each other.
Apparently
this was a contest. As soon as the stage is cleared, Ram hops up and announces
that the trophy goes to Devi for her performance. (shrug) She comes out to
accept the award, which is a pair of hands holding a large conch shell.
According to Ram's speech, the conch shell is a symbol of truth, power, and beauty. Also according to him, "The conch brings hearts together, diverts everyone's direction of life, and if one is ever thrown at you, look out." The reason I singled this out is due to the conch shell being referenced a lot later on in the show.
That night Devi is sitting at home watching the trophy spin on a turntable. Must not have been anything on television that night. As she stares at it, she begins thinking back on all of the times she and Ram have encountered each other. A musical number plays on the soundtrack, but no one sings or dances along with it. The DVD menu doesn't single it out as a song either, so we'll not count this one.
