The next day
Shivangi is heading to her rehearsal when Suraj catches her getting in an
elevator. He starts making his sales pitch to her about who he is, what business
he is in, and how good a provider he is. Shivangi is a little caught off guard
when she learns that he wants to marry her, and basically tells him "no thanks."
Of course the elevator gets stuck between floors, prompting Shivangi to get even
more uncomfortable. She tells him that she doesn't think this is appropriate,
and breathes a sigh of relief when the elevator gets going again.
He follows her into the theater and tries to give her his card. She dismisses him and walks off towards the stage. Suraj looks defeated and goes home.
Some time later, Ravi checks in with Suraj for some business matters. He sees that Suraj is not in the mood for work, and asks him what the matter is. We learn that Suraj still has no info on her, and she no longer goes to the same theater to rehearse. Their father has already announced the party to celebrate the engagement, and he's got nothing. Ravi tells him that he's being too old fashioned in his problem solving, and tells him to come along with him.
We cut to that evening and see Shivangi and Ulmi at home, playing cards and watching TV. Their program is interrupted by an announcement by Suraj. He makes a plea for "the nameless" to call him when she sees the message. Shivangi gets annoyed at this and goes to sulk in her bedroom. Ulmi follows and asks about the spot on TV. When Shivangi tells her that's the guy she had the accident with, Ulmi encourages her to go call him. Shivangi isn't interested.
Back
at the Kapoor house, Suraj is manning the phone bank. His dad doesn't approve of
his use of the company's broadcasting ability to go looking for his woman. Ravi
sticks up for him though, and the kids shoot down most of the parents'
objections.
One of the phones rings. It's Ulmi, calling unbeknownst to Shivangi. She tells them that if they want to catch her, she's doing a show at the theater the day after tomorrow. The guys celebrate and get ready to catch her.
We cut right to the show. Shivangi is performing "Ikraar Karna Mushkil Hai," (rough translation: "To Love is Tough to Do") with the usual dozen or so backup dancers and surprisingly quite a few guys in blackface. Here we come to a weird moment. Ulmi is in the audience with Ravi, and Suraj is down in the front row. I think it is very unlikely that Ulmi and Suraj have never met. I mean, they're in the same theater, and I would assume that Ravi would introduce Suraj to Ulmi. Then they'd all make the big discovery that it's Ravi's brother who is interested in Ulmi's cousin and eliminate a lot of the weird roundabout ways of getting information. Ah well, just a movie.

Suraj stares at her with a dumbfounded look on his face while she's doing her thing. Ravi and Ulmi take off before the show is over, so perhaps they didn't arrive with Suraj after all. When the song is complete, the crowd leaps to its feet in applause. As she's leaving the stage, one of the electrical boxes on the wall explodes and a fire quickly engulfs the stage. The crowd flees in terror while Shivangi looks around in a panic on the stage. Soon she is overcome with heat and smoke and collapses. Suraj sees her in distress and heads towards the blaze to help her.
