Suraj leaps over the flames onto the stage to help her. He gathers her up on his shoulder and covers her hair with his jacket. Now I've seen some, shall we say, "less than convincing" stunt work before, but this one's a doozy. When he jumps back over the fire with her in his arms, the legs and arms of the doll he's really holding flop around almost in a complete circle. Really though, I'd rather have that than some superimposed visual effect. Anyway, he manages to get her to safety.

At the hospital, Suraj is pleading with the doctor to tell him if there's anything he needs at all to make sure she's okay. The doctor tells him that she's going to be fine. A nurse is in Shivangi's room, and is giving her some water. She comments that Shivangi's husband must love her very much since he's arranged for an "army of doctors" to look over her. Shivangi looks confused, then corrects the nurse by saying she isn't married.
Outside
Shivangi's room, Ravi and Ulmi are walking down the hall. Ulmi introduces Ravi
to her father, and says that they know each other from college. That seems like
a rather casual way to describe someone you want to marry in less than a month.
Oh well! Her father says they want to thank Suraj for saving Shivangi's life.
Suraj comes in at that point and meets everyone. In a less-than-subtle moment,
Ravi asks Suraj what he thinks of Ulmi. They're about three feet away when
they're talking about this, and they're not exactly keeping their voices down.
Being discrete? What's that?
Anyway, their father thanks him for what he did, and says that they'll never forget it. Ulmi mentions that this is the guy from the TV spot that wants to marry Shivangi. She winks at Ravi and the two of them move away so the guys can talk about it.
Dad asks Suraj if he really does want to marry Shivangi. He says that he does, but he's worried that she doesn't like him. Dad tells him that she's a very shy person, and he'll talk to her about it. Boy does he ever talk to her about it. I'll post what the subtitles say he's telling her here. See if you can spot the part where he starts laying on some guilt:
"It's thanks to Him that you were saved. Suraj's favor to us is indeed praiseworthy. Where does one find men who risk their lives for strangers? He wants to marry you. He loves you a lot. Moreover, it's because of him that you received a new lease on life. You've to marry one day. So why not now? I also want you to marry him. If you refuse, that will be the only shortcoming in him."
Heavy stuff.
Apparently it works, for the next transition we have is to their wedding! I can't help but notice that hardly anyone is smiling. Of course, if weddings over there are half as stressful as ours here, I guess it's not that big of a surprise.
Strangely, this is also the last time Ulmi appears in the movie. As you'll soon see, the plot is about to shift gears. Still, I'd have thought some sort of explanation would be in order, but nope! After the wedding she's out of the movie.

This leads us into another song. "O Piya! O Piya!" I'm wondering if this is an accurate translation on the DVD menu. It sounds to me like they're saying "pyaar," which means "love." That makes a little more sense to me, and it still fits the song. Course, I could be way off.
