Later that night, Vish and Madhu are trying to sleep while the party goes on next door. They're blaring loud rap music (in English!) as they have their birthday party on the backyard. Vish gets up and Madhu asks where he's going. He explains that he's going to the party to congratulate them on the birthday.

Instead, he shows up in the backyard with his pistol. He shoots the speaker, then starts berating the guests for making such a racket over something as trivial as a birthday. (I'm not sure, but I think he's still mad about Madhu's comments at her own party) He begins shooting out their floodlights when Madhu comes over and takes him home.

When this flashback ends, he's shown sitting on the bed, smoking a cigarette and laughing pretty hard while he switches the light on and off. No, he's not unbalanced at all.

One more walk down memory lane to seal the deal. Vish is on a hunting trip. They spend a few minutes chasing a herd of deer around, then Vish finally shoots one. They go back to his factory, which appears to be a leatherworks of some sort. People are shown preparing hides and other textiles. Vish fires a man for covering his nose while inspecting the leather saying that to him that he can go work in an incense shop if this place bothers him so much.

He comes home to find Madhu working on a new hobby. She's learning how to do a dance where she wears little bells on her ankles. Vish watches for a while with an agonized look on his face.

He asks her what this new form of her is all about. He starts taking off his belt, and asks her if she thinks his house is a den for prostitutes! He starts whipping her legs and ankles with the belt while shouting questions at her. "What will the neighbors think? That I'm making prostitutes dance for me?" That sort of thing.

Madhu tries to cover her feet by jumping on the sofa and covering them up, but he keeps hitting her. He grabs her ankles and shakes them while telling her that the sound of the bells is scary to him. She's crying hysterically at this point but he keeps grabbing at her freshly whipped legs and tugging on the bells.

Out of all the atrocities that Vishwanath carries out on Madhu, I think this one is probably the worst. The apple shooting business was bad, but if something had gone wrong at least it would have been quick. This scene is just plain unpleasant to watch. His strikes look very convincing and she's crying frantically throughout the ordeal. Add to this the surreal element of the dance music still playing on the tape deck and you've got one powerful, disturbing moment. See why I hate this guy so much?

He tells her that those bells have ruined his life, and that he can't bear the sound of them. He is mad at her because she can't understand why the sound is horrible to him, despite the fact he never told her anything about them. He finally goes away and leaves her sobbing on the couch.

Later that night Madhu is lying in bed, still wearing the clothes she was dancing in. Vish comes in and she pleads with him not to hit her anymore. He apologizes to her for hitting her, and starts putting some kind of balm on her welts. He goes on to explain how when he was young his father was lured away by a dancing girl that wore ankle bells like those she had on earlier. His parents fought a lot after that, and sent him off to boarding school. Some time later, his dad married the dancer, then his mother also remarried. He never saw either of them again since he joined the military right after school. He adds that he was court-martialed for shooting POWs (whoa!). After getting kicked out, he started his business, and that brings us up to today.

After telling her that touching story, he starts making amorous overtones towards her, playing with her dress and giving her "that look." She is understandably not in the mood, and tells him not now, her feet are in a lot of pain. He basically ignores her requests to stop, and proceeds to finish what he started.

Have I mentioned that I really, really hate this guy?
