We next see Jiya making a rather threatening phone call to Monty telling him to get his wedding suit cleaned. He'll be needing it soon. Monty gets excited, thinking that Jiya's suggesting they marry, but she tells him to just be quiet and do as he's told. Next stop - Kajal's room.

Ominous music plays as Jiya brings a wedding sari to Kajal and asks what she thinks of it. Kajal says it's beautiful. Jiya tells her to put it on. Kajal tells her that society will not allow her to do this, but Jiya doesn't care. She tells her that if she doesn't wear it, she'll call off the wedding. Jiya struts off as Kajal looks horrified.

Downstairs the guests have arrived. Everything seems to be coming along nicely. That is until Kajal makes her entrance. All of the women in the crowd begin to mutter amongst themselves about "how can she do this," and "who does she think she is?" Raj looks ... well I don't know how to describe it. He seems to like what he sees, but at the same time he's trying to look like he doesn't. Jiya has a wicked grin on her face as heavy drums play on the soundtrack.

Jiya goes over to the most outspoken group of women and asks what the problem is. They tell her that it is inappropriate for Kajal to be wearing wedding garments since she's a widow. Jiya asks what the big deal is, since all of the women that are complaining have lost important men in their lives recently. Jiya accuses them all of having double standards and rants a little about how the women have all these rules, but none apply to the men. She says she's fed up with these traditions, and to prove her point, she's going to have Kajal get married again. This raises a few eyebrows, including Raj's and Kajal's.

We're about to go into serious soap opera mode, so hang on tight. Lots of stuff happens in a short time here.

Jiya calls Monty over to her side. She tells Kajal that she's going to marry him. Kajal starts to object, but is interrupted. The Singhaniya family comes to her and tells her that it is okay, they approve of all this. Kajal asks if anyone considered whether or not she would want to marry again. Jiya asks what's wrong with Monty that she wouldn't want to marry him, then accuses her of being in love with Raj. (Cue the big drums on the score again.) Jiya's not done yet. She asks what right Kajal had to threaten Raj with suicide if he didn't marry her.

Kajal tells Jiya that she's ready to marry Monty if it will prove to her that she's not forcing Raj into his marriage. She goes over to Monty and tells him to put the ring on her finger. For the first time ever, Monty looks thoughtful and hesitates. Kajal braces herself like she's about to get punched. Raj finally gets in gear and stops Monty, and tells Kajal not to ruin her life just to appease Jiya. Jiya gets mad and asks why marrying again will ruin Kajal's life. Jiya accuses Raj of wanting to have a wife and a mistress. Raj slaps Jiya (don't worry, it's clear that he misses by a mile), and asks her if he really wants to see what Kajal means to him.

He walks over to where the clergy are gathered and grabs a handful of vermilion powder from one of the platters, then smears it onto Kajal's forehead and scalp while thunderous music plays on the score.

This is significant because technically that's all he needs to do to make her his wife. More on this later.
