Raj finds the results Joe's mission waiting for him back at the union. He tries not to laugh too hard, but does not succeed. Kajal comes out looking for Raj to scream at him for ruining her play. She finds him at home and tells him that he must replace the hero that he beat up. He tells her that he doesn't know how to act (teehee) but she makes him read the part anyway. After a few comedic false starts, she takes a moment to get him into character. They have a genuine romantic moment, then she tells him to say his lines like he was really saying them to her. He does, but this can only lead to one thing - the next song.

Raj begins daydreaming and sings "Aaj Kehna Jaroori Hai" to her. This is another rather sappy love song, although we have a ballad this time instead of a dance routine. There are also quite a few of the "head in for a smooch then veer off at the last second for a hug" moments in this one.

The song transitions into the play's opening night performance. Raj delivers a moving performance and there isn't a dry eye in the house.

We go from the stage lights to Raj's living room where he has received word that he was accepted into the Air Force. His sister-in-law is there when the news is announced, and she asks him if he's doing this for himself or for Kajal. He says this is for him, and that Kajal loving airplanes is a happy coincidence. She also asks if he's told her that he loves her and wants to marry her. He replies that he did once when they were kids, which we see in a black-and-white flashback. He tells her that the day he becomes a pilot is the day he will propose, and that Kajal already knows he loves her. Hmm... seems like a rather bold assumption, doesn't it? He has the proposal all planned out too. He'll take her up in a plane to 30,000 feet and pop the question among the clouds.

Kajal shows up at the house and tells Raj she wants to see him outside. She's mad that he went and joined the Air Force without asking her first. He tells her that this was his plan all along, and that he will only be gone for a year and a half. She tells him to take care of himself and has a teary goodbye.

After some footage of propeller planes whooshing past making jet sounds (really) we see Raj reporting to his base and meeting his fellow recruits. This starts a montage of Raj in class, planes zooming by (with more jet sounds), and Raj hanging out with his new friends.

We also get a side scene of Kajal and the gang from home watching some planes doing stunts over the student union while they all gasp and cheer.
