The following morning we join the Chopra family as they start their day. We see that they now have a daughter, Pinky. She's wading her way through breakfast as Shivani reminds her to invite her friends to her birthday party. Just then Pinky's ride to school shows up, and she's got to go. Once she is on her way, Ashok tries to capitalize on the solitude by putting the moves on Shivani, but she shrugs him off to go to the hospital. We have a little awkwardly phrased expository conversation where the two of them say things they already know to each other for our benefit. The main point being that Shivani no longer works for the airline, and spends her time volunteering at a hospital for the disabled. When asked why she does this, Shivani explains that with Pinky at school and Ashok on his flights, she gets bored and lonely, so she does this out of the kindness of her heart.

As she gives what borders on a sermon, we have some seamless cuts to the hospital where we see several wheelchair-bound patients that Shivani is taking care of. We also get a little foreshadowing when one of the younger patients tugs on her clothes for her attention, and she tells us how when she started, he couldn't move at all. With all of her caring love and attention, he has regained the ability to interact with her. She is called into the office of someone important, so Ashok takes his leave. He says that he'll pick her up after her shift, but she tells him not to. He needs to get Pinky and go get some supplies for the party. She says she'll find another way home.

We jump over to Mohanlal's place. Vijay, decked out in an impressive looking suit, walks into the front room and startles Mohanlal. He demands to know Shivani's address. Mohanlal tells him that she's married now, and has refused his offer for the modeling job. He does helpfully offer to don a sari for Vijay and take the job, but Vijay spares us all that horror by telling him to shut up. He hands Mohanlal a large stack of bills and asks again for Shivani's address. Having been provided with the appropriate motivation, Mohanlal says he'll do better than that, and tell him where he can find her right now!

That night, we see Shivani walking through a park-like area in the dark, by herself. Perhaps she could have thought this through a little more thoroughly, but he we are. A long shot reveals Vijay watching her in a mirror of his car as she walks towards him. He also witnesses a thief running up to her and stealing her mangalsutra, then climbing over a wall to get away. Shivani begins calling for Ashok as Vijay runs over to her. Somehow, Ashok appears from nowhere (with no car, and no Pinky, so what was he doing there?) and Vijay tells him what happened. Ashok goes to take Shivani home, while Vijay looks off in the direction the mugger went with a determined look in his eye.

The rest of that tale will have to wait, since it's now time for the birthday party! Lots of kids have turned up for this thing, and all of them seem to be having a blast. Just to remind us that he is not to be trusted, we also see Mohanlal making a grab for an envelope full of money that had been given as a gift. Didi stops him and tells him no one else at the party would dare disturb the cash but him. Meanwhile Shivani is walking around wearing a blindfold and carrying Pinky. She eventually bumps into Vijay, who introduces himself for the third time. Shivani, in an attempt at humor, asks him if he's still the same old Vijay, or if he has "improved."

Vijay wryly tells her that he hasn't changed a bit. Mohanlal notices that Vijay is there, and rushes over to bid him an obsequious welcome. When asked to what do they owe the honor of his visit, Vijay replies that he's there to see Ashok. Mohanlal says he'll take him into the house to meet him. As they start to walk, Vijay asks what's going on. Mohanlal explains that it is Pinky's birthday party. Vijay actually looks guilty for a moment, and says that had he known he would have brought a gift. He takes off his (no doubt very expensive) watch, and offers it as a present. Mohanlal eagerly takes it with the claim that he'll give it to Pinky, but we can see him start to put it on his own wrist. Didi sees this and tells Vijay to take it back. Such gifts are not appropriate for children. Of course Mohanlal is offended by this, but they do eventually get the watch back to Vijay.

Eventually Vijay finds Ashok, who is getting ready to make a flight. Ashok thanks him for helping with Shivani's run-in with the mugger the previous evening. Vijay goes on to explain that he is launching a new airline, and he wants Ashok to be the general manager. Shivani is hovering close by to see what they're talking about. At this news, she frantically waves her hands and shakes her head "no," and must quickly play it off when Vijay looks her way. This goes back and forth for a bit, and Ashok is successful in delaying his answer, saying he needs to know the specifics of the offer, etc. before he'll commit to anything.

Vijay leaves, and Pinky announces that it's time to cut the cake. Shivani dodges a smooch for the third time as she heads off to attend to Pinky's cake needs.
