Vicky
continues talking to himself. He says that today, Ajay must die as well. He
opens a drawer and takes out a contact lens case. He opens it up and fits
himself with brown lenses, then continues speaking. He tells Madan Chopra that
he couldn't win his trust as Ajay Sharma, but he did succeed as Vicky Malhotra.
He tells him that his double life is over, and now it's time for him to take
Madan Chopra down.
We then have what I am assuming is our Interval cut, since we end on a pretty high dramatic note, and we're halfway through the movie.
The next scene opens on the Chopra house on a nice sunny day. We cut inside to see the kitchen staff preparing some vegetables for the day. One of them tells the chef that it's been six months since the events of Seema's death, but Babulal's spying on the staff has increased steadily. He has even been regarding Mr. Chopra himself suspiciously!
As
this is being said, the kitchen door is flung open and Babulal stands in the
entrance with a stern expression on his face. He makes his way through the
kitchen and begins frisking the staff. After a short joke with a liquor bottle,
we cut away from the shenanigans.
Instead we follow Priya and Vicky as they head towards her father's office. She tells him that Madan has something he urgently wants to discuss with him. They make their way into the large plush office of Madan's, and have a seat. Madan begins a speech that sounds a lot like he's onto Vicky's plans. Madan speaks of how Vicky's been there for a while, and how he's affecting Priya, and making himself a large part of their lives.
As
this is being said, Vicky gets obviously twitchy. He starts glaring at Madan and
reaching for a large paperweight on the desk. However, this was a false
alarm. Madan says he knew that Vicky was making himself so prominent in their
lives because he and Priya had fallen in love. He tells Vicky to call his
parents so they can set up a grand engagement party for the two of them.
We get an odd slideshow zoom in on Vicky's face as he thinks quickly about what to say. He flashes back to the story his friend told him in the car on the way into town way back when, and tells the same tale to Madam - his parents were killed in a plane crash.
Madan and Priya are moved by his sobering story. Madan tells him that he will not allow Vicky to feel the absence of his parents, and invites him to take an equal place with him in the family business. He congratulates Vicky, then tells him to go and celebrate. Vicky politely tells him that he'd rather get right to work. Madan tells him that's fine, and wishes him well. Then he and Priya leave Vicky alone in the office to get acclimated.
Vicky
stares down at the leather seat behind the desk, then gives it a spin. As he
watches it revolve, he has a flashback to when he was a young boy. We see his
family in a yard during a
Holi celebration. As he looks on, Madan and his two daughters come running
up the path to speak with his father. Madan is an emotional wreck. He's
apparently just been released from a three year sentence in prison, and his wife
has recently died. He has nowhere to go and no way to care for his daughters. He
begs Vicky's father to let him live at his feet.
Dad's not too keen on the idea. We get a little back story here, and there is some bad blood between these two. He had once offered Madan great things, but was thanked for his kindness and generosity with deceit. Madan swears on his daughter Seema's name that he will not cross them again.
At this point, Rahkee comes over and asks what is happening. Madan repeats most of what he said to her, and she thinks that Madan should be forgiven. After all, no one swears false oaths on their children. Dad tells him that since Rahkee wants to let things slide, then he will agree. We immediately see that Madan was lying, since he stops his blubbering and starts doing that shifty "looking back and forth" thing with his eyes.
