Ajay stands along the side of the highway at what appears to be a bus stop. He's having poor luck getting one to pick him up, and he is clearly frustrated. His fortune takes a turn when a Jeep hurtles past, then quickly comes to a halt. The driver leans out of his window, and calls out to Ajay. Ajay does a dramatic whipping off of his glasses, and sees that the driver is a friend of his that he hasn't seen in years. Ajay gratefully accepts the offer of a ride into town, and hops in. The guys do some catching up, and we learn that Ajay's buddy (who's name is being kept suspiciously secret) lives in Bombay now, and lost both of his parents in a plane crash in Bangalore two years ago. Ajay expresses his sympathy, and makes a face as if this were information that he'd need later. His buddy asks him why he's headed to Bombay, to which Ajay replies that he is in searching for someone. He is given a nudge for a name, but Ajay only replies that he is searching for success.
We
cut away to a nice looking house where a servant is polishing a brass sign at
the front gate. Apparently we are headed into Chopra Palace. We see Babulal
walking through the halls carrying a tray when the phone begins to ring. The
chef goes to answer it, but is berated by Babulal for overstepping his bounds.
According to Babulal, only the head servant is allowed to answer the phone. The
chef points out that Babulal has a terrible memory, and always forgets to take
notes on the calls. When Mr. Chopra learns he missed his call, he takes it out
on the rest of the staff.
This sets up Johnny Lever's comedy act for the rest of the movie. As you can probably guess, he'll be forgetting important information left and right. Still, one must respect a man that can wear red suspenders and not look foolish.
Babulal picks up the phone and immediately hears someone laughing very loudly right into the receiver. Babulal reciprocates by laughing right back at him. This goes on for three rotations of the men just laughing loudly at each other, and eventually giving the chef the giggles as well.

After everyone is light-headed, the caller identifies himself as Mr. Bajodia from Ahmedabad, "who deals in boxes, buckets, and tumblers." He is in town to discuss the terms of his son's marriage. He asks that Babulal turn the phone over to Mr. Chopra. Babulal tells him to hold on, and then asks the chef who Mr. Chopra is. The chef tells him that Mr. Chopra is their boss, causing a panicked gulp from Babulal as he runs off to locate the requested party.
As
he does this, we see a pair of ladies' shoes come hurrying down the steps.
After a rather blatant shot of this person's hindquarters as she walks
through the room, we have a dramatic reveal of her face. This is Seema, who
has instructions for Babulal. She tells him that if her father calls, he
should tell him that she is going to the health club immediately following
her classes for the day. Babulal smiles and says he'll pass the word along,
and Seema gets into a waiting car.
This new information has body-checked the memory of the phone call completely out of Babulal's head. He passes the table holding the phone, and remarks about how careless people are getting, leaving the phone off the hook like this.
Babulal
picks up the receiver and asks who is calling. Mr. Bajodia, believing that
he is now speaking with Mr. Chopra, asks him when he can come over to meet
the girl that might marry his son. Babulal tells him to come over anytime!
To make polite conversation, Mr. Bajodia asks how the business is going.
Babulal tells him that the prices of many of the current groceries he likes
are going way up. Mr. Bajodia suspects something is up at this point, and
asks who this is he's speaking to. Babulal tells him, causing Mr. Bajodia to
snap at him and tell him to get Mr. Chopra.
We leave this drama for now, and head over to the college where Seema is arriving. Seema is something of a popular attraction on campus, as there is a rather excitable group of young men who are overjoyed that she has made her appearance for the day. One of these fellows has problems controlling the velocity of his flailing limbs, and spastically launches himself towards the car. He shuts the door on the driver who was climbing out, and opens the door for Seema. Seema pays him little mind and instead calls out to her friend Anjali, who is chatting with a group of people nearby.
