One
odd moment does occur during the fighting. Towards the end, one of the bikers
unsheathes a rather large knife, and scores a hit on Vicky's arm. This was
evidently the wrong thing to do, as Vicky stops and stares at his arm while the
camera makes several swooping pans on his face. Vicky then takes off his belt
and begins savagely whipping his opponent.
We cut from the fallen foe to the police station. Inside, Priya is arguing with the desk sergeant about calling her uncle. She's not making much progress and her discussion is getting heated. Fortunately for her, her old classmate Karan is on hand, and he just so happens to be a cop. Karan and Priya have a friendly reunion, and she introduces him to Vicky. She begins to explain her case to Karan, but he tells her that he's sure she's right (!!) and will take care of the bikers.
I'm thinking that the bikers wouldn't have been there at all had Priya not run them off the road with the convertible. Ah well, the system works!
Karan
invites them to step into his office, but Vicky points out that they're likely
to be late for their meeting with Seema. Priya looks at Vicky's watch and sees
that it is now three in the afternoon. Priya realizes that they've missed their
window, and Seema has likely gone on to the party.
Priya's assumption is correct, and we cut over to the party already in progress. We all sing happy birthday to Anjali, followed by a cake-feeding ceremony. This leads us to someone hitting the tape deck and they crowd gets to boogying. Surprisingly, this does not take us to a proper musical number, as we've got too much plot to work on at the moment.
We see Ajay's head (remember, SRK is Ajay when he's around Seema) bobbing about through the windows to the dance hall. He sees Seema inside, who is dancing with Ravi. We also get a look at the antics of Charlie and his pal as they dance off to the side of the room. What they lack in dancing skills, they more than make up for in enthusiasm. As the fates would have it, they're doing their wallflower act near the window that Ajay is peering through. Seema notices Ajay outside, and begins gesturing for him to come over to her. She adds a few blown kisses to sweeten the deal. Charlie and his buddy think that she is doing this to them, so they begin reciprocating in a rather disturbingly eager manner. Anjali sees Seema going through her summoning motions and cranes her neck to see who she's waving to. She gets a glimpse of Ajay, but can't quite get a lock on his features. She goes over to Seema to ask her directly who it is she is inviting in.
Seema
plays it safe, and says that she wasn't calling to anyone outside, she was
merely inviting Charlie to come and dance with her. Anjali apologizes for being
so nosy and moves away while Charlie and his wingman come in for the most
embarrassing display of dancing I've seen
in quite a while. (If there's one clip you need to
see from this movie, this is it.)
Seema manages to sneak away from her situation and goes outside to talk to Ajay. She asks him why he didn't want to come inside with the others, but he tells her that he doesn't like to hang out with her rich friends. Besides, he was only there to tell her that he's going home for a few days, and they won't be able to see each other. Seema is pouty about this, but Ajay takes the edge off by saying she can always make do with Charlie while he's away. Seema swats him and they go off to enjoy some "delicacies."
Back at the house, we see Babulal briefing the rest of the staff on the events of the coming afternoon. They are expecting the arrival of Mr. Bajodia to discuss the possibility of his son getting engaged to Seema, and Babulal wants to manage this visit personally. Babulal then sets about the kitchen, generally making a mess of things and getting no closer to actually producing any tea.
Outside,
we see Mr. Bajodia telling Madan and Priya all about himself and his company,
with a little about his son thrown in for good measure. Back in the kitchen,
Babulal is heading for the door with an elaborate tea set. The other servants
try to stop him, since all he's actually got in the teapot is warm saltwater
instead of real tea. He's not hearing any of it, and marches proudly out to the
table.
Madan is called away for a phone call from a business partner. The rest of them try to make the best of the fact they've got saltwater to drink, and we have a reprise of Babulal and Mr. Bajodia's laughing conversation they started on the phone. After a few awkward moments, Madan is off the phone and rejoins the group. Seema pulls up in her car and Priya excitedly runs off to bring her to the table. She is happy to make the new acquaintances, until she realizes what they're planning to do. One quick cut later, and she's on the phone to Ajay telling him that they're running out of time. If he plans to marry her, he's got to do it quickly.
