We
cut from the sunset at the end of the song to an airport. We see Aarti arriving
and the family enthusiastically welcomes her. They compare their tearful reunion
to something out of a Bollywood movie (weird, that's two references to Hindi
movies so far), and decided to head home before they cause a scene.
We join the sisters as they sit in Aarti's bedroom. Anjali has her head up against Aarti's abdomen, and a look of wonder on her face. As it turns out Aarti is five months pregnant, but hasn't told anyone yet. Anjali asks why she's keeping it a secret. Aarti explains that since she's had several miscarriages in the past, she didn't want to get anyone's hopes up with no reason until she was fairly far along in this pregnancy. Anjali nods, then asks if Aarti's husband is as excited about the baby as Aarti is.
At
the mention of her husband, Aarti looks a bit downcast. She says that he is
excited about the birth, but he is away on a long-term business trip and won't
be back until shortly before the baby is born. The girls head downstairs to find
their parents dancing around singing the phrase "Shaka Lakka Baby" over and over
again happily. Apparently the bedroom was bugged, or someone was eavesdropping
because they know Aarti is expecting. The girls look at them strangely for a
moment, then join in the merriment. After a few moments of this, they calm down
and Kabir tells Aarti that she needs to be very careful and protect herself. He
tells her that they are so excited, and that becoming grandparents is the
greatest joy in life.
The next day, we find the girls in Anjali's car at the docks where Raja's boat is moored. Aarti asks Anjali why she hasn't introduced Raja to the rest of the family. Anjali tells her that they both know how their parents are, and they'd have a hard time accepting a struggling musician as a good candidate for a husband. Aarti looks thoughtful for a moment, then tells Anjali that she will convince their parents that Raja is a good guy. However, she needs to meet him for herself first to make sure she's backing the right man for the job.
Up
on the boat, the three of them sit at a table to discuss things. Raja tells them
that he completely understands the need to handle this delicately, and is
willing to go along with any plans they have concerning his introduction. He tells
Aarti that he knows Anjali's family is very important to her, and he doesn't
want to do anything to cause her, or them, any problems.
Aarti seems pleased with his attitude, and tells them that she wants to see all the places the happy couple hangs out. Raja tells her that he will take her to paradise. No, that's not a pick-up line. Apparently he likes the lake so much, he thinks it's heaven. He takes them to a nice green picnic area right by the lake, and plucks out some simple tunes on a guitar while the ladies sit and listen.
Aarti is impressed with his playing, and asks why he hasn't written any lyrics for his song. He tells her that it's because he just made the tune up on the spot, inspired by his surroundings (oooh, he's good!). Aarti tells him that he should write some words to go along with the tune now, and let Anjali be his inspiration. Raja twists it a bit, and tells her that he tells Anjali how he loves her constantly. He suggests that she write the words based on how much she loves him! With a little coaxing, Anjali starts to sing our next musical number, "Pyar Ka Anjaam."
