Outside
the door to the apartment, Rajan and Qureshi are ganging up on Vishal. They try
to convince him that Swati has MPD, and that she definitely killed the watchman.
Rajan pipes up and tells him that MPD patients can be very dangerous, and he's
an expert on things like this. Qureshi asks him why doesn't he get it that she
needs professional help that only an asylum can provide? After all, she must be
stopped before she kills again! Okay, I added that last one.
Vishal tells them both that he doesn't believe she has MPD, and that he's sold on the "she's possessed" package. Qureshi openly laughs in his face at this comment, while Rajan takes the "good cop" role. He comforts Vishal and tells him that "that witch doctor" has clouded his reasoning, and they all know she's not really possessed. Qureshi stops chuckling to tell Vishal that he's surprised that an educated man like him would fall for that kind of nonsense.
Vishal has heard enough, and tells them that they need to back off. He begs them to leave him alone for just a little while longer, and the situation is nearly at its end. Vishal then goes inside his apartment. As soon as his door closes, Thakkar's door opens and a still panic-stricken Sanjay comes out and frantically pushes the call button for the elevator. As he does so, all the lights go out in the hall. This of course does nothing to help his mood, so he heads for the steps.
Inside
Vishal's place, we join Vishal, Bai, Mrs. Khosla, and Sarita in the bedroom.
Vishal points a flashlight around and notices that Swati isn't there. He asks
where she's gone off to, and gets the reply he did not want. Sarita asks
him if he thinks that Manjeet would just let Sanjay go? Vishal explains what
seemed to be a pretty obvious point (at least to the audience) that the cops
think Swati's nuts, and if anything should happen to Sanjay, they're going to
blame Swati for it. Amazingly, Sarita looks at Vishal with an expression that
radiates, "Well heck, I hadn't thought of that."
We rejoin Sanjay in his flight down the stairs. As he nears the bottom, the lights come back on, accompanied by a loud "clang" on the soundtrack to make sure we all jump. He drops his flashlight as he gets to the garage, and hops in his car. As he tries to drive off the car takes on a life of its own (remind anyone of anything?), shifting gears, racing the engine, and driving quite fast inside the parking garage. This is not a good idea in case anyone was wondering. The mayhem comes to a close when the car lightly bumps into a cement column, causing Sanjay to lurch forward and hit the horn.
Sanjay
sits in the car for a moment to get his wits about him, but those are all
scattered again once he sees crazy-eyed Swati sitting in the back seat. He gets
out and runs blindly through the garage (also a bad idea), only to find himself
near his car again. We have a wobbly POV shot that approaches his blind side,
and an arm reaches out to poke him. When he turns around, the arm is gone! He
walks away from the camera, and we see a dark shape fall past the lens from the
top to the bottom, disappearing with a disturbing, meaty "plop." As Sanjay turns
to investigate the sound, the camera pulls back a little to show the fallen form
of Manjeet's son, lying prone on the cement. A pool of blood begins collecting
around his head as we get a look at his face. As the camera moves closer, he
opens one eye to glare at Sanjay.
Predictably,
Sanjay doesn't like looking at this, so he runs away. As he passes another of
the myriad columns, he is accosted by Qureshi. They look at each other with a
fair amount of confusion, and Qureshi checks the path he came from to see what
he was running away from. As he looks around the pillar, he sees Swati is
standing very close by.
Rajan says that he will tranquilize her, and gets working prepping an injection. Qureshi tries to pin her arms to her sides, but she hulks out and flings Qureshi several feet behind her, slamming him into a pillar. She grabs Sanjay by the throat and holds up against the wall while making some horrible faces and more than a few disturbing grunting sounds. Rajan finally gets the needle ready, and jabs it into Swati's arm. However, it has no effect other than to draw out another unpleasant sound from somewhere deep in Swati's lungs.
Clearly out of his element, Qureshi gets up off the ground and readies his pistol. Vishal jumps out from behind the pillar and blocks his shot, and tells them once again that she isn't a mental patient. Qureshi really wants to shoot someone though, and doesn't lower the gun. Vishal grapples with him and the two fall to the ground and wrestle for control of the revolver.
