Rashmi tells him that he's a "mad lover," and he tells her that all love is crazy. They stare deeply into each other's eyes for a moment, then passionately ... hug. This leads us into our next song, "Ishq Ki Raat Hai." In this one, everyone sways around in the rain as we cut back and forth between Rahul and Rashmi draped all over each other to Mallika drinking herself into oblivion on the terrace of her house. Occasionally Jaidev pops out to look at her longingly. Again.

Eventually Mallika collapses into the mud while Jaidev watches. He gathers her up and takes her inside, putting her safely into bed. He considers her for a moment, then pulls her comforter up over her and leaves her alone.
We cut over to Rashmi and Rahul who have taken shelter inside Rahul's house. Rashmi's feeling a bit chilly since she's soaked from the rain, so Rahul gets her a towel. He tells her to go change out of her wet things and he'll go put a pot of coffee on. Just then, lightning strikes outside and the power goes out. Rashmi freaks out and grabs hold of Rahul, clinging for dear life. She cries out that she is afraid of the dark, and begs him not to leave her alone. The movie then pulls a fast one on us, and launches into another song! We now roll into the title song for the movie, "Chaahat Ek Nasha."

Of note, this is a surprisingly graphic love scene. Lots of actual on-screen kissing and other such tomfoolery! This goes on for a while, until the movie feels guilty. We cut from the throes of passion to a stern expression on Dr. Sanjeev's face! No, he's not there with them, it's a jump cut over to his house.
Sanjeev
says to someone off-screen that Rashmi tells him that he's got
something important to hear. We see that he's actually talking to Rahul. Rahul
explains that he is the eldest member of his family, so he's doing this Big Talk
himself. He says that he and Rashmi both love each other very much, and would
like to get married. Rashmi had told Rahul that she can't make that decision
herself, and would only go along with it if her father agrees.
Sanjeev is polite, but he points out that Rashmi and Rahul come from two very different backgrounds. He is concerned that they're ignoring their differences in the heat of the moment. Sanjeev feels that if they do anything hastily, some nasty clashes will emerge farther down the line and they'll break up. Rahul tries to assuage his fears, but Sanjeev won't give him an answer at this time. He wants to speak with Rashmi first. He then sends Rahul on his way.
We
find Mallika and Jaidev emerging from a fancy car at what looks to be the grand
opening of a store. She has some flashbacks to huge crowds gathering to see her
wherever she went, and notices that the turnout today is drastically smaller
than in days past. She makes her way up to the ribbon, and cuts it with the
ceremonial scissors. There is some polite applause from the gathered people,
then they all wander into the new store to look around. A few fans ask Mallika
for autographs, but then she overhears the store owner on his cell phone.
The owner is complaining to Mallika's agent that no reporters from any of the networks has come to cover the story, and he feels that he wasted his money in having Mallika appear here. Mallika ponders this for a moment, then tells Jaidev to give the owner back the fee he paid for her to be there.
