Manmo takes advantage of the time with Rahul, and frankly asks him if he is in love with Rashmi. Rahul somewhat sheepishly indicates that he is. Manmo then asks if Rahul and Rashmi are now an item, what does that do to his relationship with Mallika? Rahul explains that Mallika knows all about him and Rashmi, and she is his best friend. Rahul tries to describe how he has different kinds of love for the two women, but they are both in his heart. This sounded to me like a very nice way of describing "having your cake, and eating it too."
We
then cut over to Mallika's house, where she's not handling the situation as well
as Rahul assumed she was. Mallika hefts a mighty drink to her lips as tears run
down her cheeks. Liza enters and asks her what's happening. She's noticed that
Mallika's hitting the hard stuff today, and she's worried. Mallika explains that
her life is going through some changes, but it's nothing to worry about. Jaidev
chips in his two cents, and tells her that drinking alcohol will only make her
pain worse. Mallika puts on a strong face, and says that she never claimed to be
in pain. She's actually very happy, since her good friend Rahul is also very
happy.
Liza
and Jaidev exchange glances with each other, and neither of them are buying the
story. Mallika goes on, saying that Rahul is very sweet, and even came to tell
her in person that he's in love with Rashmi. She asks them if they want to hear
how he broke the news to her, then gets up to do so before they can respond.
Mallika begins to lose her cool while telling the tale of how Rahul hugged her,
and told her that he was in love, and was going to get married to Rashmi.
As she reaches the end of the story, she seems to forget the other two people are in the room. She starts asking how this all came to pass. After all, it wasn't that long ago that Rahul was in love with her, and even said he wanted to make her his wife. She angrily throws her glass on the stone floor, shattering it. The glass, not the floor. Mallika sinks onto the stairs and begins weeping loudly, while Jaidev stares longingly at her. After we all rock out to some wailing saxophone music, we cut away from this painful scene.
We
find ourselves at a dance rehearsal with Rashmi and her horde of backup
performers. They do their thing for a bit until the choreographer is satisfied,
and tells them they're all done for today. The others mill around for a bit and
eventually leave while a few of the staff come over to fawn over Rashmi for a
bit. Chandan takes a moment of her precious time, and mentions that Rahul is
more or less at her beck and call now. If she could find a way to mention
Chandan's "shock music" to Rahul, then he'd be all set for success as well.
Rashmi politely tells him to come over to their house someday, and they'll give
it a listen.
Chandan seems excited, but that's all spoiled when Manmo arrives and tells her not to listen to this nonsense. Rashmi giggles and walks off, leaving Chandan to gripe at Manmo for ruining his chances. Their squabble is interrupted by another aspiring performer who is looking for Manmo. They have the usual confusion as to what he wants to do (this guy wants to act), and it goes on for way, way too long. The actor performs an entire speech from the Amitabh Bachchan movie Trishul for us, but as one might imagine it's not quite as effective as the original.
Once
that nonsense is complete, we cut to a dark and stormy night. Rahul is driving
Rashmi someplace, when he stops the car in the middle of nowhere. He hands her a
large stack of papers, and asks her to read them, then sign them. She flips
through a few sheets and says there are too many of them, and she can't
understand what they're for. She says that Rahul should just tell her where to
sign and she'll do it. He chuckles, then points out a few places for her to do
so.
When she's done, Rahul asks her if she knows what the first rule of business is. She doesn't, so he helps her out. He says that the most important thing is to read every document before you sign anything. He says that she might have just inadvertently signed a deal where she is bound by contract to never sing for anyone other than Rahul's company. Rashmi says that since she's agreed to marry him, she would have no problem if that's what he wanted of her. Rahul is touched by that, but tells her what she really signed. He has made her a business partner in his company! He thought that if they're going to be life partners, then they should also be business partners as well.
