The
chase goes on for quite some time, with Sunil gradually catching up to Rahul. He
manages to get his hand on Rahul's jacket when they dart out into traffic. Sunil
is struck by a car, allowing Rahul to escape. Sunil, tough as he is, decides
this is too much for him, and collapses into a heap in the road.
I have to comment here about the mannequin that takes the hit in this scene. It looks pretty bad as it stands stock still in the street. Even better is the fact that the wig falls off of it when it is struck!
We
cut from Sunil doing his best Shatner impression in the road over to Rahul's
room. Rahul screams Kiran's name as loud as he can with lots of cool echo
effects, then we cut to the hospital. No, I don't know why we saw that either.
Let's just move on, and pretend it didn't happen. Things look serious in the OR
as Sunil undergoes some emergency surgery. I'm not sure what they are operating
on, as Sunil is completely covered up except for his right arm, and that's
sticking straight out to the side opposite from the doctors. A nurse frantically
takes his blood pressure, which seems to cure him of his case of "Hit By Car."
The doctor comes out of the OR to tell the gathered family what has happened. According to his expert analysis, they'll know more in 24 hours. Kiran asks if she can see him, but the doctor says he's unconscious and can't speak. Kiran slips into Sunil's room and thinks to herself that she doesn't want to put him at risk again, so she's going to go far away from him. We see her back at home offering a prayer for Sunil's speedy recovery.
This apparently works, as evidenced by the fact that he's now sitting up and having coherent conversations with Captain Mehra in his hospital room. For a little extra spice, Rahul is also with them! Sunil tells Capt. Mehra that he's not as upset about being attacked as he is by the fact that he was so close to catching the person that's been causing so much trouble, only to lose him at the last moment. The Captain says a few things that cause loud sounds to strike the soundtrack and make Rahul look uncomfortable. The Captain says that he thinks Sunil's attacker is crazy, and doesn't understand that killing a girl's fiancé doesn't mean he'll will get the girl!
At
that point, there is a knock at the door. In walks a police inspector (why yes,
he does brandish his Stick of the Law threateningly!) who thanks Sunil for not
getting killed in the road. If he had, the police would have had to do a lot of
work questioning everyone in the area. No one in the room laughs at this, so he
might have actually been serious. Anyway, they get down to brass tacks. He asks
Sunil if he saw who fired at him.
Sunil thinks for a second, then says no, he didn't get a look at his assailant. We have another clanking sound on the audio with a nervous twitch from Rahul. The inspector asks him that even though he chased the man for so long, he didn't get even a quick look at him? Sunil says that all he could see was the attacker's jacket and jeans. The inspector asks for any other physical descriptors, and Sunil says that he was about Rahul's height. Rahul pipes up and says he's 5'10" just to be helpful.
Everyone
clears out, and Rahul adds a quick "get well soon" wish. Sunil assures him that
he'll get his attacker, and that Rahul need not worry about him. When he's
alone, Sunil looks off into space and says Kiran's name. We go see what she's
doing, and find that she's waiting at the train station. She hears a voice
asking her where she's off to. Kiran looks up and surprisingly we see Sunil at
the platform, still in his hospital clothes with a bloody bandage on his head.
How Sunil knew where to find her or how he checked himself out of the hospital the night after undergoing critical surgery is not addressed. Instead, he asks her if this is how she's really going to leave - without telling anyone or saying goodbye. She tells him that she is dangerous to be around. She's already caused Sunil to be attacked twice, and she's afraid a third attempt would finish him off.
Sunil takes her face in his hands and asks her if she thinks he can't handle this problem. He goes on asking her about various parts of his body and whether or not they're up to the task of protecting her (he really does this with six or seven body parts). She tells him that she doesn't mind dying but she can't tolerate the idea of him being killed. She begs of him to leave her, and he agrees to let her go. However, she'll go as his wife! He places a streak of blood on her forehead with his thumb to make her his bride, then they go to a small shrine to seal the deal.
