Sunil
busies himself in the kitchen rounding up the requested beverages. As he does
so, the phone rings. Vijay is calling from home and asks how things are going on
the trip. Sunil tells him they are having a great time, and have really enjoyed
having Rahul with them. Vijay looks confused, and asks him who Rahul is. Sunil
replies that Rahul is Capt. Mehra's son, which jogs Vijay's memory. He tells
Sunil that Rahul has been over to their house several times lately, but he
didn't mention that he was going to Switzerland. Sunil gets a serious expression
on his face as he starts putting things together mentally. He looks out of the
window and sees Rahul and Kiran talking and laughing like they hadn't a care in
the world. Sunil hangs up on Vijay and sets down the drinks. He grabs a bottle
of some kind of liquor and heads out to the back yard.
Sunil arrives at the table and sets the bottle down with a heavy thud. He tells everyone that there has been a change of plans, and we're now hitting the hard stuff. Kiran tells them that she's opting to take a nap instead, and tells the boys to have fun. Sunil stares intently at Rahul as Rahul knocks back a glass of whatever it is they're drinking. Sunil asks him about the girl he loved in college, and tries to get her name. Rahul tells him that he thought the discussion was closed, since she's married. Sunil wonders aloud why she wasn't married to Rahul, but Rahul says only she can answer that one. Not quite finished yet, Sunil asks him where she lives now. Rahul says that she once lived in his heart, but he doesn't know where she is now.
This
goes on for a bit, with Sunil never relenting in his questions, even when Rahul
looks uncomfortable. Sunil does soften a little to try the sympathetic route,
but Rahul still tries to change the subject. Finally Sunil comes right out and
says that he is suspicious of Rahul. This gives Rahul a bit of a start, and
Sunil explains that it's because of how secretive he is being about this woman
from his past.
Rahul tries to lighten the mood and says that Sunil should have become an investigator instead of joining the Navy! He adds that if he were questioning anyone with something to hide, then he's surely have revealed it. Sunil smarmily replies that that is his goal - for Rahul to reveal everything. He doesn't want anything to burden Rahul's soul.
At this comment, Rahul looks quite aggressive. He tells Sunil that the memory of this woman is not a burden to him. It is a beautify possession of his, and he will take it wherever he goes. Rahul decides that he has had enough, and says that he's going back to his hotel. Sunil tells him that it's a long trip and it's getting late (this despite the fact that it is broad daylight outside). He tells Rahul that he should stay with them in their little condo. Rahul agrees and they go inside. Sunil goes into the living room and sits down on the couch. He goes through a flashback sequence where every incident with the stalker is played back, as well as every direct contact with Rahul. Sunil decides that they've got a problem, and wakes Kiran. He tells her to get ready quietly and to meet him at "the boat."
The
next morning we see Rahul waking up. He immediately realizes that something's
up. It's a bit late in the morning, and the house is completely empty. As he
searches the place, the phone rings. He doesn't pick it up, and instead runs out
of the house. We see that it's Vijay and Poonam calling (man, don't they realize
that Sunil and Kiran are on their honeymoon and would probably like a little
privacy?), and they're worried that no one is answering. Rahul continues running
all over the countryside (literally) and stops to take a breather in some woods.
Rahul begins laughing maniacally and roaring in fury at the skies when he hears
a harmonica being played nearby.
Sunil steps out from behind a tree about ten feet away. How he knew which tree to hide behind since Rahul was running randomly through the forest is a mystery. It must be that elite Navy training in hiding tree selection that Sunil had. Sunil plays the song that Rahul serenaded Kiran with way back in the beginning of the movie as he tauntingly walks closer to Rahul.
Sunil
asks Rahul if he played that song for Kiran, and Rahul, realizing that the jig
is up, says that he did. Sunil then punches Rahul in the head, sending him
sprawling. Sunil asks if Rahul was the one calling Kiran over and over, and
Rahul says that was him too. For this response, he wins a kick to the face that
flips him over onto his back. He asks if Rahul was the one responsible for his
faulty brakes and the sabotaged elevator at the apartment building, and Rahul
owns up to those too. That gets him another kick that sends him flying a few
feet along the ground. This leads to random violence where Sunil kicks the tar
out of Rahul, until Rahul clings to Sunil's leg and begs for a respite.
Rahul apologizes over and over for what he did and begs for forgiveness. He says he knows that what he did was wrong, and he is sorry for putting them through so much trouble. Sunil hesitates and looks around the place with a "Well great, I was all set to kill this turkey and then he says he's sorry" look on his face. When his eyes are averted, Rahul viciously stabs him in the stomach twice! Sunil begins to weaken, and Rahul says he's sorry. He tells Sunil that his problem is that he's too nice, then adds that no one can come between him and Kiran.
