We
cut from the celebration on the terrorists' boat to a Navy vessel where an award
ceremony is already in progress. Capt. Mehra is so pleased with the performance
of the men on this operation that he has authorized a full month of paid
vacation time for everyone involved.
A jump cut takes us from here to a packed stadium where a cricket match is entering the crucial phase.
I'm not completely up on my cricket terms, so I won't embarrass myself by pretending to know what that crucial phase is.
Up in the stands we see Vijay, his attention riveted to the action on the field. He speaks to no one in particular as if he were the commentator for the game, telling us that tensions are rising, and it's all very exciting. The camera pulls back a little bit to reveal his wife, Poonam. Poonam isn't quite as into the game as Vijay, and suggests that they need to get going as it is getting late. Vijay doesn't even interrupt his chattering. Poonam reminds him that they need to meet Kiran's train, and it has probably arrived already. Vijay says he isn't going anywhere until he ensures India's win over England. Something happens on the field that excites everyone, and was apparently what Vijay was waiting for. They head out among the cheering fans.
We
see them arriving at the house. Kiran bolts from the car and storms into the
house, passing a servant who informs her that Sunil had called for her. She
angrily tells the man not to mention Sunil's name around her ever again, and
pounds her way up the stairs. Poonam wonders what she's so ticked off about, but
Vijay says that it's the fires of love that have stirred up in her, since Sunil
didn't meet her at the station.
Up in Kiran's room, she's so mad that she kicks her shoes off, one of which flies up in the air and hits her on the head. I'm not entirely sure that was intentional, but they kept the take. Kiran is good and angry, flinging her belongings around the room and rambling to herself about what she's going to do to Sunil the next time she sees him.
Kiran
goes over to her closet to get a change of clothing. She flings the door open,
only to find Sunil waiting in the closet with a rose in his teeth. He falls out
of the closet and onto Kiran, and they both tumble to the bed. Kiran is still
mad, and tells Sunil that she doesn't approve of his methods here. Sunil's
feeling amorous though, and gets all poetic with her.
Kiran is confused about something. She asks him why he didn't just meet with her when he came up to her school. She says that it would have been more fun had they made the trip home together instead of him harassing her with the singing and whatnot. Sunil doesn't know what she's talking about. He tells her that he hadn't been up to her school. Kiran thinks hard, and wonders who it was then that was wooing her.
To
answer that question, we have a jump cut to a tall building in a city. We see
Rahul Mehra walking along in the fresh air, doing the time-tested "she loves me,
she loves me not" routine to the flower he is holding. We pull back a little to
see that he's actually walking along the ledge of the roof, over a very long
drop to the pavement below. You see, it's important to realize that Rahul is not
quite the most rational person, and might be a little disturbed. His flower
technique reveals that Kiran belongs to him, and he shouts it to the city below
him.
This cuts to what I believe is an alternate angle of the same plaza, but it's kind of hard to tell. We see Kiran and Sunil on a motorcycle pulling up to an apartment high-rise. They hop off of the bike, and Kiran asks whose house it is they're going to see. Sunil not-so-helpfully responds that the house belongs to the people who live in it. Surprisingly, Kiran does not slap Sunil for being a smart-ass and they continue walking towards the building.
