The
night looks lively at the Oberoi's place. P.N. is downstairs having a toast with
his evil minions as the phone begins to ring. Sam literally boogies over to the
phone and answers it to find David Brown on the other end. Sam is none too
pleased to hear from his old manager, but David's feeling a little confident
tonight. He tells Sam that he has paid for Sam's upcoming concert, but he
doesn't want some third-rate dancer like Sam to stink up the place with his
lousy performance. Instead, Jimmy will be dancing the lead part!
Sam is enraged, and tells David that he'll sue for all kinds of breach of contract claims, but David just giggles at him. He tells Sam that he will still pay Sam the rate he would have received had he performed, so his lawsuit will be without cause. Sam screams that David can't do this to him, and that he's a superstar! He angrily hurls the receiver away, which P.N. notices with some interest. P.N. tells one of his associates that he wants a meeting with Vasco, right away.
The meeting is only a jump cut away. We see Oberoi meeting with Vasco, and arranging an attack on Jimmy as soon as possible. Vasco tells Oberoi that for the amount he is offering, he'll be happy to kill Jimmy and his family! Oberoi tells him that won't be necessary. He just wants to make sure that Jimmy is unable to perform at his show.
We cut to Jimmy's hotel room where he is bidding his mother good-bye. He asks for her blessings on him and his show, which she happily gives. Jimmy is then sent speeding along in a taxi. However, the taxi driver stops in the middle of the road out in the middle of nowhere, citing engine troubles. Jimmy is dismayed that he will be late for his show, so he gets out to walk (knocking the guitar against the roof with a nice "thud!"). The driver then looks at Jimmy with a conspiratorial eye as he begins frantically honking the horn.
We
see Vasco and a number of hired goons look up at the sound, and they surround
Jimmy once he's reached them. Jimmy tells them that he has nothing to give them,
but they tell him they're not interested in money. They begin an odd ritual of
beating Jimmy up while snapping their fingers, a la West Side Story. A
cutaway shows Jimmy's mother talking to David on the phone, wondering what's
keeping Jimmy held up. Then it's back to the fight! Vasco breaks Jimmy's guitar,
sending Jimmy into Righteous Indignation Mode.
He rises from the dirt and begins snapping back at the goons. Only Jimmy's snaps have a weird echo effect applied, so we know that they're more powerful (or something)! Jimmy starts pounding all of the bad guys and tossing them into some oddly placed stacks of bricks that appear to have no purpose other than to get knocked over by flying bad guys.
Please watch for the mannequin that Jimmy catches and throws. You may also notice from the sound of things that everyone seems to be wearing tap shoes on a hardwood floor instead of loafers on dirt. I live for this stuff!
Jimmy finally uses his disco-fu to take out Vasco and put him through a completely empty news stand that topples over at the slightest touch. Having dealt with the immediate threat, Jimmy runs off to get to his show. This we cut to promptly, and watch in horror as the song "Krishna Dharti Pe Aaja Tu" assaults our eyes.

I don't know where to begin with this song. It's the same tune as the Jesus song we heard earlier, but now it's Krishna, not Jesus. Also, we go from the Garbage Bag Ninja attack to many grown men wearing baby blue leotards, pink vinyl skirts, and little pink capes. Don't forget the black tube socks. I wish that I could have been in the meeting where this was declared a "good idea" and should be put in the movie.
Somehow,
against all the laws of taste and reason, the song is a huge hit. The crowd
goes nuts, and we see a montage of newspapers being printed. We also see
some product names superimposed over the footage that all have Jimmy's name
attached. This leads us into another montage of Jimmy being mobbed by
adoring fans, signing autographs, and reading his rave reviews.
Jimmy looks a little unenthused as another promoter tells him about his next big show. He answers some questions for an interview about what he wants out of life now that he's a huge success. Jimmy replies that he still wants what he always wanted - happiness for his mother.
Over at Sam's place, tensions are running high. We see Sam hitting the booze pretty hard while Nicky chides him for it. He tells her that he's fine, and begins musing on what it is that Jimmy has that he doesn't. After all, Jimmy's a lowly street singer for goodness' sake! Just then the doorbell rings, and Nicky opens it. It looks like good old David Brown is here to see his daughter. As one might imagine, Sam is not happy to see him there, and says so! He demands to know why David is here.
David tells Sam that he was meant to be ruined. He's not there to see Sam, but only to visit his daughter. Sam throws his drink in David's face, and tells him to get out.
