Rita
tells Jimmy that when she figured out that he was the boy in her memories, she
could feel the pain of his emotional wounds and couldn't sleep that night. Jimmy
tells her that while his wounds are healing, the marks still remain. (This is
good stuff, guys. Remember all of this.) Rita goes in for the kill, and tells
him that she'll erase those marks with her love.
This triggers a slideshow of the two of them frolicking in the grass and generally being all romantic and whatnot. I wish I were kidding about the slideshow, but that's exactly what it is. There's also a lovely early 80's synth soundtrack burbling along as we look at the producer's vacation pictures. There is a quick cut to the two of them playing in the ocean, then another hop to Rita's garden where she's reading a mash note from Jimmy.
Rita flops around on the grass as she reads Jimmy's heartfelt sentiments to her. She imagines him standing near her and saying them out loud. Imaginary Jimmy then leans forward and smooches her all over her face (Whoops! Not the lips!). Rita smiles quietly to herself as she enjoys this moment, then we're out of here!
We
cut to a nighttime shot of a VW bus pulling up to the Oberoi's house. Jimmy and
Rita are inside, saying some mushy lovey stuff to each other before Rita gets
out of the car. Jimmy glances up and sees the hated P. N. Oberoi spying on them
from a porch above them, and hastily gets out of the van. He catches up to Rita,
and tells her to give him "a sweet memory until tomorrow," and gives her a stage
kiss on the lips! She then trots off into the house as Jimmy does a "Mr. Smooth"
adjustment to his jacket. He makes sure that P.N. saw all of that before going
back to the van.
Rita skips through the house until P. N. calls out to her. He asks her where she's been, and with whom. She tells him that she went out with Jimmy. He asks her if she doesn't feel shame for associating with the "enemy." Rita tells him that he's being silly, and that Jimmy's the far superior dancer to Sam anyway. Oberoi doesn't care for this kind of talk, and slaps Rita in the face. He tells Rita that Jimmy is just using her to get to the rest of the family and mess with everyone. He sends Rita off to her room to cry, and tells her that she won't ever be seeing Jimmy again.
We cut to Jimmy's house where the Batphone is ringing. Jimmy answers it to find Rita on the other end. She tearfully tells Jimmy that she can't meet him today. Jimmy asks her why, and she tells him that she just can't. Jimmy presses the issue and tells her that his mother has cooked a meal for them, and wants to know again why Rita can't make it. Rita squeaks out a tearful confession that her father has forbidden her to make the trip. Jimmy asks her if she loves him, and she says that she does. He tells Rita to prepare herself, as he is coming over to get her.
Jimmy
barges into the Oberoi's house and demands to know where Rita is. P. N. is
furious, and asks Jimmy how he can just barge into his house. Jimmy tells him
that after the life he's had, mustering up the courage to come here was no big
deal. He then walks farther into the house in search of Rita. P. N. raises his
hand to strike Jimmy, but his arm is caught in Jimmy's vice-like Disco Grip. He
tells P. N. that since he is Rita's father, he will not try to hit him back.
Jimmy slips away and tracks down Rita. P. N. is on the phone to call for help. Jimmy tells him that he's taking Rita away, and there's nothing they can do about it. Rita tells her father that this is no longer her home. To her, it is a prison. She then storms out of the house with Jimmy in tow. Oberoi shouts into the phone for the police commissioner.
Over at Jimmy's place, we see a cop talking to Jimmy. He says that he knows things have gotten a little out of hand, but he's sure there is a reasonable explanation for all of this. Rita comes over and says that he needs to explain to her father that adults aren't kidnapped when they leave of their own free will. Jimmy defuses the situation further by inviting the cop to their engagement party later that week.
We
have an abrupt jump cut to an auction where several of the local businessmen are
gathered to bid on a textile mill. We hear them going through the normal auction
stuff, and see that P. N. is present. He makes a bid on the mill, and it looks
like he has won it. We get to the "going once, going twice" part, when suddenly
we see Jimmy is also there. Jimmy ups the bid, and Oberoi glares at him. The
auctioneer invites Jimmy to join them at the table, and they begin a bidding
war. Jimmy increases the amount by large gaps in order to drive the price way
up. About the $20 million mark, Oberoi's accountant starts trying to tell him
something, but Oberoi shuts him up. He's not about to lose face to this annoying
little whelp!
Before too long, the whole room is over at the table, watching the two men bid with the same head motions of the crowd at Wimbledon. Jimmy stops the bidding at $70 million, and tells Oberoi to take it. Oberoi gives him an ultra-smug look, until his accountant tells him that the mill he just paid $70 million for is actually only worth $10 million. If he keeps this up, he'll be ruined.
Jimmy comes over and says that is just what he wanted! He wants Oberoi to walk barefoot through the streets as he once did as a child. Jimmy casually walks out of the room as Oberoi turns purple. He throws a briefcase after Jimmy (complete with badly dubbed and poorly timed glass breaking sound effect!) and declares Jimmy to be a "bastard" through clenched teeth.
