It
turns out that Sonia has been keeping a picture of her boyfriend under her
pillow, and Diya thinks that's a hoot. She tries to show it to their mother but
Sonia snatches it back and warns Diya not to come near her room again. Sonia
takes off upstairs, and trips over the cleaning lady that's working on the
floor. Mother rolls her eyes and goes to talk to Naina, knowing she's a little
more level-headed. She asks if Kabir is a nice boy and wants to know how serious
Sonia is about the relationship. She's worried about doing all the wedding
arrangements herself, should there be any in the works. We also learn that their
father has passed away, but we don't hear how long ago that was.
During this conversation Mom gets more and more agitated. She's very frustrated that things aren't moving faster with the whole marriage thing for Sonia. Naina explains that Kabir really wants to propose, but every time he tries to do it he chickens out.
Time
to meet Kabir. We jump to an office, where Kabir is wailing on a saxophone and
everyone is following him around like the Pied Piper. He takes a long winding
path through the building, and ends up on his knees in front of a desk. He has a
whole staff of supporters behind him as he struggles to get a proposal out.
After stammering for a few minutes, he gives up. It turns out he was
practicing and the one he's talking to at that moment is Naina. He laments that
if he can't even say it in front of her sister, how will he "fare before the
atom bomb?" Perhaps it's just me, but I don't know how well a marriage would
work out if this guy is this afraid of her already. Ah well, not my problem!
One of the guys that was coaching Kabir starts haranguing the others. One is a "great" dialog writer, one is a musician, another a dancing teacher. Even with all of their help he still can't get this happening. Though for our amusement, we do get another entry in the Amazing Subtitles category. Please observe!

All the "experts" get kicked out. Naina attempts to comfort Kabir by telling him that if he goes with the direct approach and says what is in his heart, she knows that Sonia will accept.
They cut to a college campus where Naina is getting Kabir ready for his big moment. She has a big bouquet of flowers and a book handy. She parks Kabir behind a pillar and goes off to chat with Sonia.
Sonia
is busy playing a pickup game of cricket when Naina goes to talk to her. She
looks irritated to be called away from the game, but goes to see what Naina
wants. Naina whips out the flowers and says they are from Kabir. Sonia asks if
he has gone crazy since he knows she doesn't like flowers. Kabir peeks around
the corner and can see things aren't going well. Next she brings out the book.
Sonia knows that something is seriously wrong with Kabir now, since he knows she
hates reading. Naina tells her that she really should read this one, and Sonia
rolls her eyes and takes the book.
When she opens it, there is some handwritten text telling her what page to read. She flips to the page and reads a passage about accepting a proposal for marriage. There are elaborate instructions about if she agrees to be wed, then she should place a flower on a certain page in a book in the library. This last part has both of them rolling their eyes, so Sonia stomps off to the library to set Kabir straight.
