That night Diya is awakened by the sound of Naina sobbing wildly on the floor in the living room in the same spot that Sonia was found. Mom tries to console her but she's pretty much beyond that.
Cut
to a train where Gokul and Sunanda are passengers. She's all decked out in
wedding gear, so it looks like they finally went through with it. Why? Couldn't
tell you. Gokul just oozes with appeal. He's glaring at her while she sleeps
with her head in his lap. She looks peaceful enough now, but something tells me
this is one of those situations that will end in tears.
We go to a flashback where we see Sunanda writing letters to Gokul. He's asked her to write him thirty letters, and he says he'll read one every day ten times a day for a month. She muses on how she could have been swayed to think of him as a killer when it's "obvious" that he loves her so much.
Pop back to the present. As she sleeps, he moves his hand down to her throat and rests it there. This must just be to show he's got murderin' on the mind, because the scene ends there.
Next they are walking through the forest, and Sunanda is bringing the audience up to speed. She asks how much farther away his mother's house is. They left at 5 in the morning, took the train, then a bus, and now are walking. We learn that he's to spend a month at his mom's house without Sunanda. I found it odd that she'd go all that way to just drop him off, but there you go. They are each carrying a piece of luggage. Inside Gokul's basket is a poisonous snake. He has the two of them switch bags, and they walk a little further. Soon enough, the snake crawls out of the basket and onto her arm where it bites her.
Now,
surely we can all agree that Gokul is a pretty nice guy. </sarcasm> He sits down
and watches her flail around with this snake on her arm for a minute. She
finally collapses onto the ground and dies while the snake is shown leaving the
scene. He reaches down and snaps the mangalsutra from her neck.
Back in town, Naina is trying to get some information from the cops. The police officer we see a lot but don't know his name (I'll call him Rupert) tells her that Gokul filed a request that none of his info be made available. Naina gets crafty and asks for a copy of the court's records of his case. Rupert says he can do that, and goes off to make the copies. While he's doing that, she goes through his files until she gets what she needs.
Gokul
is back at work, and behaving normally. He's standing on his head in a corner
and fantasizing about a woman we haven't met yet. Safe to assume this is his
next intended victim. When he's "ready," he heads outside and gets his bike. As
he rides off down the road, Naina sees him pass and gets on a bike of her own
and follows from a safe distance.
He arrives at what looks like a health spa. The Dream Girl is on the phone, and tells whomever she's speaking with that she'll take a shower and meet them in half an hour. She heads off down a very long hallway to presumably take that shower. Gokul follows her and stares at her butt the whole way. Seriously.
Naina arrives outside and sees Gokul's bike. She moves in and sees him following her down the hallway. The spa is closed, and there isn't another living soul in this giant place. Dream Girl finally arrives at the ladies room with Gokul not too far behind. She gets into a shower stall and goes to work. Gokul pulls on a pair of disposable gloves and is getting ready to strike when Naina sets off the fire alarm.
Gokul
darts out of the shower area and spots Naina from across the pool. She hightails
it out of there and hops on her bike. Gokul sees that his bike has been disabled
by Naina and heads off after her on foot. He knows a shortcut or two and manages
to cut her off. He's stopped by a passing car and she is able to make an escape.
She takes off down a rather scary looking alley and stops to take a breather and a quick look around. She doesn't see him anywhere and starts off again at a slower speed. Her big frilly dress gets the upper hand and snarls itself in the wheel, spilling her onto the street. Gokul sees her on the ground and runs like hell to get her. She pulls the dress out of the wheel in time to get up and throw the bike at Gokul. He's caught off guard and falls down.
She's off again, this time on foot. He soon catches up to her and gets hold of her hair. They scuffle for a bit until she pushes him through a bunch of boards that were leaning over an open doorway. She finds her way to a large open-air market with lots of people milling around.
