Over
at Oberoi's, things aren't going much smoother. We find Oberoi pacing in circles
around Sapna, teetering on the brink of an explosive outburst. He asks her if
she knew Suraj, and tells her to say that she did not. He then asks her if he
put the vermilion on her forehead forcibly, and answers answers his own question
by saying that it was not voluntary. He
then says that she hates Suraj, and tells her to say it too. All the while Sapna
can't even bring herself to speak. She shakes visibly as Oberoi hovers only
inches away from her. He keeps repeating that she hates Suraj, until Sapna
finally speaks. However, what she says is not to Oberoi's liking.
Sapna blurts out that she does not in fact hate Suraj. As luck would have it, she loves him. This proclamation sets Oberoi off. First he leads off with a full handed slap to Sapna's face. He then begins screaming things to the effect of, "No, no, that is impossible!" He grabs Sapna in a bear hug and threatens to kill Suraj, and Sapna too if she doesn't take back what she said. Rama intervenes and takes Sapna in her arms. Oberoi tells her to let Sapna go, but she refuses.
Finally
Oberoi is reduced to screaming in rage while clutching his head. Sapna feels a
little bolder and tells Oberoi that she loves Suraj, and there's nothing Oberoi
can do about it. Oberoi goes suddenly quiet, and stares up at the women.
We then have an oddly timed cut back to Jai's place where the argument is still raging. Well, specifically Jai is raging. Suraj seems surprisingly level-headed about the whole thing. Suraj calmly states that if his love for Sapna is going to cause a problem, then the two of them could leave the city and go back to Suraj and Jai's old village. Jai tells him that things aren't that simple. He tells Suraj that he would like to leave this feud with Oberoi, but even if he did so the fight has a bad habit of finding him whether he wants to participate or not.
Suraj doesn't believe him, and says that if Jai had a heart, he could see why this is so important to him. He tells Jai that he never loved anyone. Jai can't even speak for a moment. He is visibly angry and frustrated to the point of incomprehension. He goes into the next room and angrily flips over a table. He tosses a chair to the side, and asks no one in particular what the nonsense is that Suraj is spewing. Jai then returns to the room Suraj is standing in, and grabs a beat-up metal case from the top of a cabinet. He shakes the handle of the case and the contents spill out. It looks like an old collection of letters and photos from Jai's youth. He tells Suraj to look through this stuff and see what he says then.
Suraj kneels to inspect the piles of memorabilia. Jai looks on with teary eyes as Suraj sees the photos of Jai with Rama when they were younger. After a few moments, Suraj looks up at his brother, and realizes that he might have spoken too soon.
Back
at Oberoi's place, Oberoi is stalking around the house talking to himself. He
shouts that the war will begin anew, and the opening act will be the death of
Suraj. He orders his men to head out to kill Suraj, and he goes along to make
sure this is done right. Inside, Rama tells Sapna what's going on. Sapna begins
wailing and gnashing her teeth about how unfair all of this is, and that Suraj
has done nothing to deserve this. She begs Rama to let her to go a church to
pray for Suraj's life, but Rama can't let her do that.
This goes back and forth for a while until Rama finally gives in and tells her she can go. Sapna heads straight to the closest place of worship and begins performing a prayer for Suraj's safety. Two scenes begin cutting back and forth. In one, we see the gang of hit men searching for Suraj, but instead they find Raghu. One of them recognizes Raghu as being one of Suraj's close friends, so they all pile out of the car to go and "talk to him." Meanwhile at the temple, we see that Suraj is also there. He finds Sapna and moves close to her. Back to Raghu and his new friends - they ask him where Suraj is, but Raghu doesn't tell them. He just keeps asking who they're talking about.
In
a fun technical quirk, the DVD left a subtitle up across several cuts, making
for an interesting look at the worship service. At the temple, Sapna notices
that Suraj has joined her. He asks her what she prayed for. She says that she
asked for Suraj's life. She returns the question, and he says that he asked for
her love. She asks him why he came there. He explains that he's come to take her
away to someplace safe where they can be together. She refuses, and tells him
that he should go away. She tells him that there are people looking for him, and
will kill him if he is found. Suraj asks her to look into his eyes, and if she
sees love and sincerity within them. Sapna says that she does, so Suraj tells
her with those on their side, they cannot be defeated.
Unfortunately, the protection that offers does not extend to poor Raghu. He has been pounded on this whole time. The men tell him to tell Suraj to come to a specific meeting place when he sees him. In order to give Suraj a little incentive to make it to the meeting, they stab Raghu in the stomach!
