Once
indoors, things calm down a bit. Suraj explains that he and Sapna came to the
village to
get married since he has no parents. All he has are his Aunt Nameless and her
family, and good old Jai. Jai bristles at being referred to in a rather negative
way, and starts snapping back but he's shut down by Aunt Nameless. She asks Jai
if he really thinks Sapna is his enemy, and why he's treating her this way. Jai
tries to say that things are different in the big city, but Aunt Nameless tells
him that location has nothing to do with this. This matter concerns family, and
that's it.
Jai gives up on talking to her about it, and instead orders Sapna to come with him for a talk. Suraj also rises to his feet, but Jai shouts at him to sit back down. He didn't invite Suraj on this one. They go into the next room and close the doors. Jai starts off by asking her what she wants, since what she's likely to get is a massacre. He goes on to say that Suraj never once rebelled against him until he met Sapna, and now he's willing to turn his back on his own brother to be with her. Sapna says that she loves Suraj very much, and asks Jai if he's ever been in love. Jai gets the familiar pang of heartache across his face, and tells her that he's the one asking questions here.
Sapna
tells him that there's nothing in life more beautiful than love, but Jai asks
her what does she think she knows about all that. He tells her that she's too
young to understand what she's talking about. He raves for a while about how
much he knows about all of this, and she tells him that she knows he's loved
someone before from the type of reaction she's getting.
Suraj pops in to see what all the shouting is about, but Jai tosses him back into the other room and closes the doors again. Jai tells her that there's no more arguing to be done - she and Suraj can't be together, and that's final. If they try to live together, Oberoi will kill them both.
Sapna
tells him that she can't really tell the difference between Jai and Oberoi. Jai
says there's a big contrast, but Sapna's says she can't see it. She reads him
the riot act for quite a while before bursting into uncontrollable sobs. She
latches onto Jai, and tells him to just kill her now if she can't be with Suraj,
since she can't live without him anyway.
Jai looks confused, but we can tell that his conviction has been shaken by Sapna's tirade. She begs him not to take her away from here, and he finally says that he won't do it. Suraj opens the doors again, and sees Sapna weeping on Jai's shoulder. He gets a look of relief on his face when he sees that Sapna and Jai seem to have had a breakthrough. She looks up at the sound of the doors opening, and runs over to resume her sobs on Suraj.
They all walk back out to the living room area, and Jai gets defensive at all of the stares he's getting. He tells them all that he wasn't the one to make her cry like that. He then lashes out, saying that he spent the last however many years looking after Suraj since he couldn't take care of himself. He questions Suraj's ability to care for Sapna, and predicts that he'll be the one to provide for her soon enough. Jai storms out of the room and leaves the rest of the family at a loss for words. Suraj follows Jai after a short moment.
Suraj
catches up to Jai near a lake, where Jai is staring out at the water. He skips a
few stones over the surface as Suraj comes over to him. Suraj quietly calls out
to his brother, and Jai asks him what he wants. Suraj tells him that he wants to
give his brother a hug, but Jai tosses a catchphrase back at him and generally
indicates that he's not interested. Suraj doesn't give up though, and finally
Jai gives in. The brothers embrace, and promise that they won't abandon each
other.
Later that evening, we see the group getting ready to go back to the big city to finalize the proper wedding arrangements with everyone. Aunt Nameless is upset, since the last time Jai and Suraj went away she didn't see them again for eighteen years. They promise that they will return once the marriage is final, and they will stay with them. Aunt Nameless isn't so sure, but they send them off.
Well, it's time to visit an old friend. We see Oberoi's estate lit up in the darkness, and everyone inside seems really tense. They all stare out of the front door as a vehicle pulls up. Jai himself gets out, and walks up to the door alone.
