Suraj
has a minor slip and ends up hanging from the window sill before he can scramble
back up to the window. He says that he will only leave if she tells him what
is in her heart. Sapna is reluctant to do so, and we can hear Oberoi and Rama
calling from the hallway for her. Sapna tries to get Suraj to leave, but he won't
until he hears her say it. She finally tells him that she loves him just as her
door opens and the lights flip on. Rama and Oberoi ask her if she is all right,
and that they heard something coming from her room. Sapna looks out the window,
but Suraj has dropped out of sight. Sapna plays everything off like there was
nothing going on, and they leave her alone.
As soon as the coast is clear, Suraj pops back up into the window and coyly says that he couldn't quite hear the last thing she said. Feeling a little more adventurous, Sapna gives him a sly smile and says that she loves him. Suraj makes an unholy whoop, then falls out of the window.
He
must have landed safely since we see him barging into Jai's little clubhouse
thing we saw earlier. He enters a common room where there are half a dozen
sleeping gang members. Suraj taps one on the shoulder to wake him up. This leads
to one of the most confusing happy scenes I've seen in a while. Basically, Suraj
starts shouting that "she loves me!" at the top of his lungs while waking
everyone up and punching them in the head. I am not making this up. This
continues for quite some time, and features another one of Raghu's disturbing
little dances. Finally Jai himself comes into the room to see what is causing
all of the fuss.
Raghu begins telling Jai about how Suraj climbed into Sapna's room, but Suraj shuts him up and carries him away. The other men tell Jai that Suraj is all fired up since some girl loves him. Jai also becomes excited, and screams after Suraj, asking him if he's got something to do. I don't know, I didn't write this movie. Jai goes up onto the roof and sees Suraj and Raghu walking away from the building. He asks Suraj where he's off to now. Suraj tells him not to ask him that. Jai warns him (in a jovial way) not to fall in love. He says that he'll drown in it. Suraj responds that it's too late for that now, as he already has.
From another part of the roof, a stunning woman in a red outfit begins taunting Jai about love. The men from downstairs have made their way to the roof, as well as a mysterious group of dancing girls. Jai and the woman trade little barbs about falling in love (Jai taking the "con" side, the woman taking the "pro") before belting out our next musical number, "Mera Salaam Le." This song is noteworthy as it is the only song in the movie that sounds like traditional Indian music instead of being squeezed out of a synthesizer.

As the song progresses, we see a few scenes of Suraj and Sapna chiming in their own verses from their respective houses. As the song comes to an end, the movie decides that things are just way too happy around here. We cut to the home of Sardar, where the lord of the house is seen walking out to his car. As he nears the fence surrounding his house, a man appears with a pistol. He fires several shots, three of which find their marks on Sardar's chest. Sardar pitches forward onto the windshield of his car and begins bleeding from his mouth.
I couldn't help but notice a slight technical flaw here. The actor playing Sardar has trouble breaking the blood capsules in his mouth, and is seen quite clearly chewing to get them to ooze out onto the glass. They must have had a limited supply of these things, otherwise this would have been really, really easy to re-shoot. Anyway...
News
travels quickly in these parts, as we see Jai being given the news. They even go
so far as to name Oberoi as the one who ordered the hit. Speaking over Oberoi,
let's go check in with him now.
Oberoi is cackling to himself about how clever he is. He relishes in the idea that the war can once again be in the open. He tells his staff that tomorrow is the holiday Holi. Anyone that comes to his house to celebrate is on their side. Anyone that doesn't is to be considered one of Jai's minions. He adds the menacing little footnote that first they will play with the colors of the holiday, then they will play with blood!
