Mhatre begs him not to do this. Angre calls out Mac's name again, and Mhatre quickly leans over and smacks Anant pretty hard. Anant looks defiantly back at Angre as he gets up in his face. Angre tells him that this is what you call a slap. It hurts both the hunter and the victim. He tells Anant that he could have killed him right after he got out of jail, but he knew life really didn't mean much to him. Instead, he wanted to go after his sense of duty, respect, and self-esteem - those were what was important to him. Since he is going to fail his mission, he will go home unsuccessful and maligned. Then, and only then, will Angre be at peace.
Anant
tells him that only time will tell how this all plays out, and stares defiantly
back at Angre. Angry that his threats didn't rattle Anant, Angre settles for
beating him up. He is interrupted by a report that the men have located someone
hiding in the storehouse. They break off the beating and head over to check it
out. As they dig around in the clutter, they notice a large stockpile of gas
canisters have been propped up near one of the doors. As they look outside, they
see Ansari, Shekhar, and Ashwin outside taking aim with their revolvers. Ashwin
gets a shot off on one of the cans, and the store room explodes. Angre leaps out
of the doorway moments before the room is engulfed in flames.
In
the following chaos, the officers in the main house use the distraction to get
the upper hand on their captors and manage to take them out. Shekhar brings the
van over to the main house, and everyone climbs aboard. Angre sees them fleeing
and takes a few parting shots as they speed away.
Unfortunately for the passengers, the doors on the back of the van were not quite sealed when the shots reached them. Ansari takes a slug in the back and collapses on the officers. We have some transition shots as the van speeds through the night. We see that Ansari is now propped up while Mahalaxmi tries to stop the bleeding. She's not having much luck though, and tells Anant they have to get him to a hospital or else he's not going to make it. Anant's cell phone rings, and he sees it is Naidu calling. Anant starts to think. We see several quick flashbacks of all the times Anant has told Naidu of where they were and what they were doing, including the change of travel plans. At each occasion, Angre has shown up not long afterwards. Putting two and two together, Anant angrily answers the phone.
Naidu
excitedly begins firing off questions about where they are and if everyone is
okay. He tells Anant that he sent a police team over, but they were no longer
there. He asks if Ansari has been hit, and how he is doing. Anant confirms that
yes, Ansari was hit. He asks Naidu how he knew that. Only his men and Angre knew
that Ansari was hurt. Naidu sits on the other end of the phone with the classic
"Oh crap" look on his face. Anant says that Ansari is alive, and will most
definitely appear in court. He instructs Naidu to tell his father Deodhar that
he's going to testify, then hangs up.
The team finds a hospital and Ansari is wheeled into surgery. After a few tense scenes of him in the OR and the others looking concerned, we see the doctor come out to update Anant. He says they were able to remove the bullet, but he is still in pretty bad shape. He wants to keep him there for a few days to observe him and hopefully he'll stabilize.
Anant
rejoins the team as they wait outside for some news. Anant tells them they can
go home. This mission is over for them. They all stare at him in shock. He
explains that they must have realized by now that the very same people who sent
them on this mission don't want Ansari to make it to court. If they were to
continue, they'd be going up against the government. He says this is going to
make getting Ansari to court almost impossible. Even if they did get him there,
most likely they would all suffer some sort of vengeance, from suspension to
physical harm. Anant says he is staying to the end, but since they are young and
have futures ahead of them, he can't ask them to go on.
He slowly turns away from them and heads back into the hospital.
