Mom reassures him that what he was doing was also very necessary work, and he
shouldn't feel bad about missing events at home. He seems to feel a little
better after that.
We
cut to a practice field where men are practicing with bayonets and others run
around on obstacle courses. Anant is walking with Naidu and explaining how he
feels about his career. He tells Naidu that his daughter is getting married and
leaving home, and he wants to be there for that since he missed all the other
significant moments of her life. Naidu is aware of how he feels, but tells Anant
that the mission he has for him could be the big break that Anant has always
wanted. Naidu also stresses that he feels Anant is the only one he can trust
with this task.
Anant says that the wedding is in twelve days, but Naidu points out that the
mission is only a three day trip and he should be back in plenty of time for the
wedding. He lays the guilt on pretty thick, and Anant ponders the idea for a
long while.
We cut to Commissioner Deodhar's office for his briefing. Deodhar warns that
this mission is likely to be very dangerous. 71 people have already died
attempting to carry it out, but Anant is determined to succeed. However, his
most difficult mission is about to begin.
Anant
is attempting to explain to a rather upset looking wife why he has to leave. He
tells her that he was specifically chosen by all these high-ranking officials to
take on this mission. She doesn't look impressed until he mentions that he'll be
getting a promotion if he completes the job. After the news she is happy for
him, and seems okay with the idea.
Anant begins jogging to get into shape. We can see he is having some problems
breathing. We also see him through the viewfinder of a camera! Someone snaps a
couple of pictures of him, then the scene ends.
It's time to meet the rest of the team!
Ashwin, the young cop we saw at the very
beginning of the movie is seen riding a motorcycle towards us. He pulls up to a
fancy looking restaurant and is greeted by several friends. They begin hassling
him about not keeping in touch while he was in the academy. They tell him that
the day after tomorrow he is going to treat them all to a fun day. He tells them
that he can't do it, since he's been picked to go on a special mission. The
young lady in the group, Rishita, clutches onto him and says that he'll only go
if she lets him go. Ashwin shrugs her off and tells her she can't fool around
with him like this when he is in uniform. As she flutters her eyes at him, a car
slams into a fruit cart nearby. The owner of the cart is understandably furious
about this and starts yelling at the driver, accusing him of being drunk.
Ashwin
pulls on his cap with a determined look on his face and marches over to take
control of the situation. He orders the driver to show him his driver's license.
The driver stammers for a moment then offers a 50 rupee bill to Ashwin. Ashwin
is very offended by this and asks him what he's doing. The driver apologizes,
then offers him 100 rupees. Ashwin is furious and pulls the car door open, then
hoists the man out of the car. He begins slapping him and asking how dare he try
to bribe a cop.
