The
troops have gathered in Anant's office for their briefing. Anant asks them if
everything is ready. They respond that they're good to go. He asks if any of
them are bringing along weapons that were not issued by the force. In a humorous
moment, Anant looks knowingly at Shekhar who reluctantly produces two guns. As
he is reaching into this belt a third time, he reassures everyone that he's only
making an "adjustment." Anant allows him to bring his additional weapons along.
Mhatre tells Anant that Ashwin did a very thorough check of all their gear, and is a gold medalist in shooting. Shekhar scoffs at him, and tells him that shooting at targets on a range is very different from shooting at another man. Targets don't shoot back. Anant tells them they will be leaving soon, then makes the most sobering speech I've heard in a long time. I'll print it here to see if it gets your blood flowing.
"The enemy we are going to confront has no identity, no face. We have no idea about the enemy's count, but we know they are many in number. We have no idea about their weapons, but we know that they are better than ours. We don't know how and when they will ambush us, but we know they will attack. To get Ansari released, they can go to any extent. We'll leave in ten minutes."
Makes you want to just hop in that Jeep, doesn't it? Mhatre tells Shekhar that he knows he's an expert gambler, and asks what he thinks their odds are. Shekhar tells him 100%! Mhatre asks if he means 100% chance of success. Shekhar tells him 100% chance of going to heaven.
The
men make a dramatic march down the corridors and head outside. As they step out
of the building, the Mystery Photographer takes a group shot of them. Anant
notices the cameraman, and sends Shekhar over to intercept him. He does this
with no effort at all. The cameraman tells them that he's a freelance
photographer, and heard about the special team. He wanted to get some pictures
as an exclusive. Ashwin takes the film out of the camera and they all glare at
him. He apologizes and says that it won't happen again.
We
see the photographer entering a darkened room. As he's coming inside, the phone
rings. A voice in the darkness tells him not to answer it. The traditional dark
red light of a developing room clicks on, and we see a stubbly man in sunglasses
was waiting for the photographer's return. Say hello to Angre! (Good name for a
villain, by the way.)
I'm tired of typing "the photographer," so I'll call him Bill. Bill tells him that his wife didn't tell him that he was there, and that he's already delivered all of the pictures. Angre has found a picture of Anant on a table nearby, and asks what that one is doing there. Bill tells him that was a test photo, and that he must have missed it when he was packing the others up. Angre lights the picture with his cigarette lighter, and asks about the second mistake. Bill doesn't know what he means.
Angre gestures outside and tells him that he's under surveillance by the police. Bill tells him that he'll take care of them, and Angre shouldn't worry about them. Angre says the only thing that will keep him from worrying is Bill's silence, if you get his drift. Bill begins begging for his life. Angre tricks him in some fancy speech, and makes Bill grovel even more. After holding the suspense for a few moments, Angre tells him he is off the hook.
Bill's wife and
daughter come into the darkroom to bring Bill some tea. They are pleasantly
surprised to see Angre there, as they are old friends. They have a cute family
moment as Bill's daughter Shweta sings a song for Angre. Angre says he has to
go, and heads outside. About
this time, the police that were waiting outside make an approach to the house.
The doorbell rings and Bill goes to get it. The phone begins ringing again, and
Shweta is told to answer it. She skips over to the phone, and happily picks it
up. We cut to outside as the entire house explodes violently. Angre checks the
destruction in the mirror of his car, then pulls away calmly as the house burns
to cinders.
