During the number we see that Ballu is in the audience, and he's disguised himself with an eye patch and beard. He leers at Ganga and she plays along while she sings. Eventually the song ends, and she goes back to her dressing area. Ballu is there, and he's found her pistol in her bag. She is miffed that he's gone through her things, but he seems to pay little attention to her complaints. He tells her that he likes her, and asks her to come along with him. Now sure her plan seemed far-fetched when we covered it earlier, but isn't it cool how it worked out exactly the way she planned it? Amazing!
She
asks who he is, and he basically tells her the truth - he's a criminal on the
lam. She giggles and plays coy with him for a while. He offers her the good life
in Singapore (where they're heading) if she'll come along. Eventually she agrees
and we're on the road again.
We see Ram talking to Champa about what Ganga has gotten herself into. He's mad about it, but she tells him that it was all Ganga's idea, and that she herself tried to talk her out of it. She also tells us that they didn't get lucky on their first try. They did have to do several shows before they found Ballu. Apparently they tried to call the cops to the house before they left, but the police were late in arriving and missed them.
We see the gang at a roadside eatery, taking a break. It seems that Ganga and the boys have had a few, since they're sort of flopping about on the tables and singing songs in a really off-key fashion. They forget one of the lines to their song, and a guy in a police officer's uniform starts singing along where they left off. The gang gets all nervous since you know, they're fugitives and all. I should point out that none of this is subtitled, so we have no idea what any of this is about. It does look like they're having fun though!
Ganga pretends to cry and works her way over to the phone on the counter. It's also revealed that this isn't really a cop, he's an actor playing a cop in a movie that's filming nearby. That helps a few of the guys relax.
Ganga
calls I.G. Pandey's office at the prison, and we have a few
moments of comic relief. Ram overhears the conversation and learns that it's
Ganga on the phone. He grabs it and they have an awkward conversation for a
while. She tells Ram that she will always be his no matter what happens. She
also lets on where they are and where they're going when Ballu catches on to
what she's up to. She claims that she's talking to her father, but Ballu doesn't
seem like he believes her. He tells Ram they are going somewhere other than the
real destination, and hangs up. Ram tells the cops to get to the last known
location of the group, and looks tense.
Well, what better way to break the tension than a song? We have for your enjoyment, "Palki Mein Hoke Sawar." This is a really long song, incorporating many different costume changes, with the dance scenes being interrupted by shots of Ganga leaving clues behind for detectives to discover (they do) and leading Ram to where they're going. We also see Ganga and the Hoodlums spending days and nights as a group, with Ganga keeping the guys in line and trying to make them behave. It's a little weird, but it's a fun song.

After the singing is over, we see Ganga trying to sleep in a run-down building on the hillside. Ballu comes walking up and stands dramatically framed in the doorway giving Ganga the ol' lean and hungry look, if you get my drift. She takes notice of him, and also of the bottle of hooch he's still holding. She gives him a little flak about it being nearly dawn and he's spent all night drinking. He tells her how beautiful she was the night before (from where I'm sitting, that hasn't changed) and that he wasn't able to sleep all night because of it. He's been thinking about her all night, and has decided that he's in love.
Ganga
isn't taking his confession too seriously. She tells him to go sleep it off and
see how he's thinking when he comes to. Ballu tells her that he's going to take
her to a temple and marry her that day. He decides that he needs to lie down on
top of her and explain all this. Ganga gets a little nervous, and we see her
feeling around under her cot for her knife that she's stashed away for
situations like this.
Lucky for Ganga (and Ballu for that matter) the roof of the little building starts shaking, followed shortly thereafter by the shutters. Ballu looks out the window into a day-for-night shot of a chopper circling overhead. One of the Hoodlums shouts out that the cops have the place surrounded. Ballu asks if Ganga will take a pledge to live and die with him. She sort of half-assed agrees as he runs out of the house.
