What follows is a little strange. It looks to me like the police aren't all that interested in apprehending the Hoodlums, since there are explosions all over the place. These cause several of the Hoodlums (notice I've named the gang?) to flip off of their motorcycles and generally fall all over the place. A few of them get shot as Ballu makes his escape.
He ends up in a cool looking grove of trees, and decides that he should celebrate his escape with a smoke. A hand appears and strikes a lighter for him. He looks up and sees that it's Ram! Now what do these two do every time they meet? Yup, it's clobberin' time.
They
climb up into the trees on some vines and other clearly visible wires attached
to their backs. They begin beating each other up in the trees, with shots of
monkeys doing the same things that are inserted every so often. I thought that
odd, since the music and action all seem to point to a serious fight scene, so
why the funny monkey shots? Oh well. Also of interest (at least to me) is that
the trees are completely covered with carvings of people's names. Beats having
credits I guess!
This fight goes on for a while, and features the longest stretch of consecutive head-butts I think I've ever seen. Eventually Ran is kicked out of the tree and safely falls about 60 feet to the ground. He discovers a convenient hand axe on the ground and throws it at the branch that Ballu is standing on. This branch is probably five inches thick, yet the thrown axe has no problems slicing right through it sending Ballu crashing to the earth below.
The fight doesn't end there! As soon as he lands, Ram starts kicking him again, and things get out of hand. Ballu whacks him with a sturdy log a few times, and finally manages to put some distance between them. As he's running out of the woods, he is stopped by a police blockade. They think they've finally got him pinned down, but as he moves towards the nearby Jeep, we see Ganga is crouched down behind it. He grabs her and explains that the cops have them surrounded. Anyone with working eyes at this point doesn't need that spelled out, but he's here to make sure we're not confused.
She
tries to tell him to leave her behind, but he reminds her of their pledge and
won't go without her. He pulls her out into the open with him, and uses her as a
shield to get clear. He compliments her on her good job of acting as a hostage,
and they jump off an apparently nearby cliff into a river.
After all that excitement, the movie decides we need to go back to town. We see the outside of Arti's house where a crowd has gathered. The shot moves up to the window where we can see Arti's being yelled at by the cops to give up some information about Ballu's location. She tells them that he's not been around for six years, but they don't buy it.
Enough of that! We're back to the Hoodlums. Odd, when last we saw them, half had been shot and the rest were all stunned from mortar shells hitting near their cycles as they zoomed around the hillsides. I'd have thought the dozens of cops that were there might have picked up a few of them, but several have made their way back to a rendezvous point, and are hanging out again.
Ballu
is taking potshots at Ganga with a pistol. Needless to say, she's not too
pleased with his new hobby. As it turns out, Ballu has known that Ganga was a
police officer working undercover the whole time. He found her ID badge in the
same bag as her pistol the night he saw her dancing with Champa. Good thinking
bringing that along, Ganga. Real nice.
Anyway, he tells her that she's still useful to them as a hostage, so he's not planning to get rid of her. All the other Hoodlums taunt her and generally do whatever they can to make her cry. With that, we get our intermission!
