Sunita
offers to let the others stay in her (yes, it's palatial) house while they wait
for Shanti to recover. Sunita then goes for a walk around her house as oddly
tense and dramatic music assaults us. Also, they're doing some odd special
effect with the sky, although I'm not sure what they're going for. It's
basically blacked out in the top right corner of the picture for several shots.
I guess it's to look spooky.
Inside, Shanti wakes up still feeling panicky. All she can say initially is "Manav" and "Disha." Manav takes her hand and tries to calmly explain that there is nothing going on between him and Disha, but she keeps babbling incoherently.
Shanti then notices she's in an unfamiliar place, and looks out of the windows. One one side of the house, there is normal daylight. On the other, the inky blackness that has been spreading over the shot has covered the sky. She tries to tell Manav what she is seeing, but it all looks normal to him. He tries to convince her that this is all in her imagination, but she won't listen. They are interrupted by Sunita, who says that this is not all in Shanti's head. She can also see this darkness that is plaguing Shanti.
Sunita
goes on to say that she can see the aura of a spirit hovering around Manav.
Manav rises to his feet and approaches Sunita, saying that he doesn't believe
what she's saying. Sunita states rather matter-of-factly that it doesn't matter
if he believes in it or not - what she says is the truth. Manav asks if this is
happening to him, why can't he see this spirit that is with him. Once again,
Sunita explains that one doesn't need to see what's going on for it to be true.
Sunita says that there's only one way to get to the bottom of this, and that's
to call upon those spirits with her unique gifts.
They all go off to the special room that Sunita has for this sort of thing. It's a large open area, with about six million candles. Sunita is patiently going around and lighting all of them with the others wait. The guys talk among themselves about what's happening, and aren't taking this particularly seriously. Akshay makes a few inappropriate jokes about the process, but Sunita gets him to hush up after telling him that his ignorance of her art doesn't bother her. She tells all of them to come to the center of the room, and to stay within a circle of protection that she has made around a small centerpiece.
Sunita
gives them instructions as to what's going to happen. They are all to place
their hands on a special board and are not to remove them at any time during the
ritual. She also stresses the importance of them all remaining within the
protective circle she's prepared. Otherwise, she cannot promise their safety.
Talli says that they should call upon Amar Khanna, to get him to stop messing with them. Sunita goes into a meditative trance, but is unable to summon that spirit to the room. Shanti tells her to call for Disha. Manav says that's ridiculous, since Disha is not dead. Shanti is set on this, and reiterates her request. Sunita says that calling her out will settle that question once and for all, so she tries it.
Once
again Sunita goes into her trance, as the camera swoops all over the room. Omen-esque
music roars over us as all of the youngsters look stressed and Sunita chants. We
start seeing images of the cottage they spent the night in, as well as Disha's
funeral portrait. We also see Disha's prone form lying under a bed of dried
leaves as she begins to make pained faces. Her eyelids fly open, revealing
gleaming emerald green eyes that look more than a little angry.
Disha's body begins to twitch under the leaves, and is violently dragged across the ground. There are some nice effect shots as she hangs in the air, resisting the summoning that is being performed for her. In the ritual chamber, Talli thinks that Disha isn't coming either. Shanti looks distressed since she still believes that Disha is really a ghost, but it's not looking too good for her theory. It's not all for naught however, as Sunita's head suddenly snaps up and looks at the rest of them. She begins to speak in another voice, and demands to know why she has been called here.
