Talli
argues that they don't need to take the rock to Sunita, and they can handle this
themselves. Akshay tries to argue his side again, but Talli keeps talking and
won't listen. After a moment of this, Akshay reaches out and in mid-sentence,
snaps Talli's neck! Talli's head spins for a moment on his newly severed
spinal column, while a Talli-sized hole opens up in the ground in front of them.
Akshay gently pushes Talli's corpse into the shallow grave, and the dirt fills
itself in. The top of Talli's head is not covered with soil, and is instead
shrouded with dead leaves. We see Akshay's face morph into the now eerie visage
of Disha, as she holds the final copy of the book.
The
next scene we see is an overhead look at Talli's final resting place, which
blends in perfectly with the ground all around it. The group's Jeep-like car
comes driving along the road, and passes under the camera. As it does so, a nice
ripe squishy sound is heard. A closer look at the rear wheels of the car reveal
a fresh coat of a viscous red liquid. The gang stops the car, and hops out to
see what they hit. They look back along the road, and see the freshly
half-crushed head of their good friend Talli. The real Akshay cries out in
anguish and disgust at what has happened, and laments that he warned Talli not
to come here alone.
Akshay tells the others how Talli was explaining that Disha used to stay here at the cottage twenty-two years ago. Sunita asks how it was Talli came to know this, and Akshay tells her about the book. Sunita recognizes the name of the book, and knows who wrote it. She says they need to go and see Das right away.
Over
at Das's house, we find him putting sheets of paper into a burning fireplace as
he thinks to himself. He had hoped that the previous incidents with Disha would
have been the last, but here she is again, up to her old tricks. We go back to a
shot of the car barreling down the highway towards the house, then it's back to
Das's place. He's sitting in his easy chair, still in front of the fireplace
with his back to the door. When the kids arrive, they let themselves in and find
him in his room. They see he holds a portrait of Disha in his hands, as Sunita
comes around to the front of the chair to speak to him. They soon discover that
Das is no more. No signs of trauma or head-squishing on him, so at least he went
peacefully.
Manav notices the healthy fire burning away, and sees there are some printed pages within. He goes in to investigate, and sees that they are the missing pages - the other half to the final love story - from the book. He also sees some newspaper clippings describing a tragedy at Lover's Point. He asks if anyone knows where that is, and Sunita has the answer. They set out to visit it at first light.
As Manav guides the car along the road, he notices several of the sights match some of the blurred images from the visions. In fact, he gets a lot of them right - the shape of the road, the cable cars and the stations, as well as some of the scenery. He sees a small sign for Lover's Point, and stops the car. He goes out into a snowy field overlooking a steep slope down the side of the mountain. More and more of the things he sees match up with the book vision - the numbers carved on a nearby bench, the lamppost nearby. Manav stoops down to grab a handful of snow, almost as if he didn't realize he was doing it. He has some blurry images of someone throwing snowballs at him, and he returns fire. In the vividness of his vision, he begins to stagger backwards as if he was actually being pelted with a withering hail of snowballs. His foot catches on a rock, and he goes tumbling over the side, and slides down the very steep and rocky side of the mountain.
Manav
frantically claws at the snow in an effort to find a grip and stop his fall. One
of his hands catches on something, and he looks up to see a frozen dead hand
sticking out of the snow. As he looks on in shock, the snow around the arm
begins to loosen, and a whole body comes out from under the packed snow. He
resumes his slide down the hill, dragging the corpse with him. They eventually
encounter a tree, and their clasped hands go on opposite sides of the trunk,
bringing the two face to face. Much to his surprise, Manav sees that the body
could be his exact twin!
After staring at his icy doppelganger for a moment, Manav loosens his grip on the frozen fingers, and the body slides off down the hill. Manav barely notices, as he is locked into a vivid recollection from a time long past.
