We fade into a shot of a statue of Ganesha on the balcony of a reception hall. The camera moves over the top of the statue and down over the main floor of the dining area where the gathered masses of onlookers are applauding. We finally get to see what's going on - it's a debut of a new book by Siddharth Das, and everyone seems very excited to hear what he has to say about it. The MC calls him up to the podium to say a few words.

Mr. Das politely thanks the crowd for their applause, and begins to speak about his book. He tells them that at one point, all of the stories in his book were once a facet of reality. He has preserved them in his new book, "A Few Untold Things," which contains "nine and a half love stories." This description prompts some confusion from the onlookers, who are all keen to hear how one can have half of a love story. When asked what he means, Das has an odd sort of flashback. Several images pass us on the screen, mostly blurry and moving quickly. Each are accompanied by a loud noise, most of the "whoosh!" variety.

When Das rejoins us in the present, he tells them all that there is one story that he could not craft an ending for. He doesn't know what happens, and says that he never will. Therefore, they're getting the book as-is, and there's not much they can do about it. He dedicates the book, such as it is, to the college. We see the book from overhead, and the ribbon that had been tied around it begins to unknot itself, and it flies upwards towards the camera. It then blurs into our credits sequence, which is quite well done.

After the credits have passed, we are shown a title card informing us that one year has passed since the reception. We are now at "J. C. College," and are following a pair of men through some darkened corridors. One of the men seems a bit agitated, and the fact that his companion is constantly asking questions is not helping. After some dialog, we learn that the agitated man is the Principal of the college, and the other man is on the janitorial staff. The janitor opens a locked door to a room filled with clutter. The janitor asks if this was once the painting room, that is no longer used for classes. The principal confirms this guess. He also adds that they've since been using it as a storeroom.

The principal reveals that he has a copy of Das's book with him, and he tosses it into the darkness. The janitor asks why they're dumping a library book here, but he is told to mind his own business. As they turn to leave, the principal bumps a shelf, causing a few things to fall to the floor. He reaches down to pick up what fell, and notices that one of the items is a paintbrush. A flash of light shows a pair of feet standing near the brush. These feet do not look normal. In fact, they almost appear to be roughly molded out of clay. When the brush is picked up, the principal notices that there is wet paint on the bristles. He then experiences a similar reaction to that which Das had at the reception - loud blurry noises, as the camera pans around him. When he comes to, he explains to the janitor that some questions are best left unanswered, and they leave the room.

Well that's enough mystery and darkness for now, so let's see what's happening with the student body. We cut to the beach, where a general sense of revelry is in full swing. This is actually a lead-in for our first musical number, "Bindas." We get most of our introductions to the bulk of the cast here, with Shanti and Manav doing most of the singing to each other. This is one of your standard, "I love you, what are you going to do about it" numbers, but it is pretty catchy.

Once they're done cavorting amongst the fireballs (seriously), it's time to go to school. We see the young couple arriving at the campus, and Shanti is griping. She's very glad that Manav has come back from America, since she's been very bored. She says that nothing at all has changed in the four years that Manav has been away. Manav zings her by saying that she is right, nothing has changed. Not even her tendency to never stop talking! They meet up with Kabir, Akshay, and Talli to get to class, but Manav says he forgot something in the car.

He goes back to get whatever it is, and is momentarily blinded by the sun. When he looks up again, he sees a staggeringly beautiful girl emerging from a phone booth. He is spellbound by her, as is Talli who has also come out with Manav. The new girl looks cautiously around her, and gives Manav an ever-so-slight smile as she walks out of the booth.

Talli is completely smitten the second he sees her, and rushes into action. He runs around her in a circle, and pretends to find a handkerchief that he thinks belongs to her. In actuality, he had it in his hand the whole time, but it seemed like a good plan. He asks her if she dropped it, but she tells him that the handkerchief is not hers. Talli says that it isn't his either, so they'll just share it. He starts to tear it in half with his teeth, but she doesn't wait around to see the results.

In the classroom, all of the pals are gathered together. With the sound of tinkling chimes, Mystery Girl walks into the room, much to the delight of many of the young men in the seats, but to Talli in particular. He offers her the seat next to him, and he makes a round of introductions to all of his friends. We also learn her name - this is Disha.
