Okay,
I'll admit that I couldn't really tell what was happening here. It looked to me
like they were headed into a dense fog, but sure enough they go smashing through
a wall of CG ice that shatters and collapses all around them. However, once the
car screeches to a halt there is mysteriously no chunks of ice around, or any
front-end damage to the car. The rest of the passengers ask Kabir what the heck
he just swerved and stopped for, since no one else saw what he and Disha did.
Kabir tires to explain it, but Manav takes the keys and tells Kabir he's done
driving for the night.
They all get back into the car, while Disha makes some odd faces. One interpretation for them could be, "Wow, that sure was weird. I thought I saw something too." She might also be looking a little crafty, as if this was something she had hoped for. Her reverie is broken when a hand thumps on her window from outside. She jumps, then sees it's Akshay. He points out the fact that they are not going to get far, since the car has a flat tire. They all get out again to talk about their options. They all agree it is too cold to spend the night outside, so they look around a bit. They notice a large building that (to me at least) resembles a ski lodge. The group decides to check it out while Talli is left outside to change the tire. One interesting plot point is given here - as Talli goes around the back to get the spare, the camera moves over the top of the car. We can see a few broken chunks of ice up there!
The
group enters the house and takes a look around. Kabir continues his streak of
doing what's prudent, and goes off on his own to explore the upstairs. He is
frightened by a moving shadow, but continues onward anyway. While he's off on
his own. Disha tries to turn on the power. She gets a lot of sparks and a few
startled squeals out of the girls, but from the outside it appears that nothing
has changed.
Inside, we join Kabir as he explores a bedroom. He walks to the window and pushes the glass out to get a breeze going (weren't they all just complaining about the cold?). As he gets ready to leave the area, he is attacked by the most fearsome assailant ever - the curtain!
The
deadly cloth wraps him up like a burrito while he screams the bloodcurdling cry
of someone that's just been wrapped up like a burrito by a big scary curtain
(It's horrible!). He struggles against the piece of cloth's vice-like grip for a
moment or two, howling like a gibbon the entire time. Suddenly, it snaps off of
him and flattens itself against the ceiling. As Kabir watches, a demonic face
appears in the loose folds of cloth, in a genuinely well-done spooky moment.
The cloth then falls to the floor, and Kabir flees the room to go tell the others what he just saw. As one might imagine, the group of his peers is less than sympathetic when a twenty-something-year-old college student tells them he was frightened by a curtain. Shanti says that they've all just seen the evidence that Kabir is a big chicken, then sits down triumphantly on a chair. Where her head was, we can see behind them into the next room where a silhouetted figure looms in the doorway. Shanti looks up at the camera and begins to scream at the top of her lungs. When the others turn to look at her, she hops out of the chair just as an axe plows through it. Akshay is holding it, and tells them that he's gathering wood to light a fire. Sure, it's a little reckless of him, but hey - it sure was scary.
Shanti
is not very happy that Akshay is with them on this little adventure, and goes to
seek refuge in the arms of her beloved Manav. While they wonder what's gotten
into Akshay, let's go outside and see how Talli is doing with that tire.
Talli is griping about how he got stuck out there doing the hard work while everyone else is having fun inside. He leans against the car, and a pair of hands grabs his head from behind, pulling him into one of the windows of the car. As soon as they appear, they vanish, leaving Talli to wonder if he imagined it. Back inside, we see the friends talking amongst themselves, while Disha watches them from near a window. Suddenly, she grabs her necklace as if it were choking her. As she gasps for air, it would appear that she is indeed under attack! The others rush to her aid, but as soon as they get to her the assault is over. She gasps for breath as she searches outside for whomever grabbed her. The only person they see out there is Akshay, and he's too far away to have done it. They try to tell Disha that she must have caught her chain on a nail or the window, but she's sure that someone was trying to kill her.
