It
seems the cops got a tip that Mallika had been seen at the Mathur's house, and
they want to know where she is. Of course, Dad really doesn't know anything
about it. Kittu shows up to hopefully shed some light on all the goings-on.
Toluram also shows up, and is none too pleased to see our man Kittu on the
scene. He gets grabby and the police have to pull him off of Kittu. A general
fracas breaks out and takes a while to settle down.
We go outside for a quick visit with the ladies, who are all waiting in Nisha's car. They fret a bit about if the boys are getting beaten up. Nisha starts to cry, and Mallika decides enough is enough. She marches into the police station to get things squared away.
We
see that indeed the inspector is beating the daylights out of Kittu while
yelling questions at him. When the officer comes in to tell them that Mallika is
waiting in the inspector's office, I couldn't help but notice what looked like
bloodstains on the wall behind him. I'd say that would be a pretty good
psychological motivator to get people talking, but I do question the ethics
involved!
We see Mallika waiting in the guy's office. Toluram shows up and acts all relieved to see her again. He commands the police to beat Kittu until he can no longer walk. At this point, Mallika speaks up and says that Kittu was only looking out for her, and that the real jerk in this equation is her uncle. They release Kittu and his dad, and tell Toluram that if he ever goes near Mallika again, he'll live to regret it.
Mallika leaves in an SUV without saying goodbye to anyone. Kittu gives chase, but is stopped by the inspector who is very polite and friendly to Kittu now. Personally, I don't think I'd want to talk to this guy. After all, he was thrashing him pretty hard not ten minutes ago. Anyway! Kittu loses sight of Mallika's car, and goes home to mope.
Nisha and Niki try to talk some sense into Kittu, but he's so heartbroken nothing is getting through. He decides to go see her again on her set, and ask what happened.
They are allowed to come right onto the set. We see that Mallika is much more confident and cheerful now. She greets them all happily, but has to look at the script for her next scene. People keep coming up and distracting her from her guests, and they end up all just staring at her for a couple long minutes before deciding to leave.
Mallika
walks them to their taxi, and tells Nisha to invite her to her wedding with
Kittu. As they pull off Kittu gets the classic, "The Hell?!" look on his face
and tells them to stop the car. He runs back to the stage and finds Mallika in
her dressing room. She's crying a river and doesn't notice him coming in.
After a little persuading, he gets her to tell him what's the matter. It basically boils down to the fact that she's frustrated with having to always give up what she wants most. Her mother died when she was young. She began working in show biz when she was three, and never got to really be a normal kid. Now that she's finally found what love is, she has to give that up too, because Nisha basically got there first, and she doesn't want to come between them.
She asks Kittu to go away and not to come back, since she doesn't think she could bear it. She then runs out of the room sobbing.
Here's where I lost my connection with the film.
Kittu
runs out to where Nisha and Niki are waiting. He angrily asks Nisha if she told
Mallika that she was in love with Kittu. When she says yes, he goes nuts and
reads her the riot act. On and on about how she knew how much he "loved" Mallika
and then she went and ruined everything. Um, dude? She's your best friend, and
has known you forever. Kittu has been fluctuating between a little scary in his
obsession to somewhat normal, but here he takes a wild tangent into Uber Jerk
Country.
After hearing that Kittu doesn't love her, Nisha runs into the stage area and saves herself from having to be with Kittu for the rest of her life. Oops, I mean she goes and tells Mallika that she only meant she loves Kittu in a friendly way, and that she would not be coming between them if she wanted to be with Kittu.
