As the song winds down, we go through a few changes of scenery until we're back at the cottage. Aditya is doing some smooching on Sanjana's neck as the camera pans discreetly away to one of the windows. One of the panes of glass looks a little weird. As we watch, a fog appears, then quickly fades with the sound of escaping breath. This repeats itself a few times as the smooching continues inside. Back outside we follow the heavy breather to another window. We see the happy couple going about their business from a new perspective, and the breathing sound increases in volume. Finally, the doors to the yard are blown open and we rush inward towards Sanjana's ear. This time, instead of her name, Sanjana hears the sound of a gunshot. This scares her and she pulls away from Aditya.
She
asks Aditya if he heard the noise. Aditya patiently explains that it was not a
gunshot she heard, but the sound of the doors being blown in. She insists
that she heard a gun, but he repeats his previous claim that it was only the
doors. Aditya goes over to shut them, and Sanjana asks him why he
didn't tell her about Robert's disappearance. Aditya doesn't answer right away,
so Sanjana adds some facts for him. She says that Robert heard these sounds as
well. She also says that she knows Robert's wife called Aditya to tell him about
this.
Aditya gives her a cop-out answer that he has so many servants, it's impossible to keep track of who goes crazy and who hears things. Aditya then moves in close to try and pick things up where they left off, but Sanjana resists him, and says she's tired. She steps back and leaves Aditya standing there.
Later
that evening, we see the couple in bed. Aditya looks to be sound asleep, but
Sanjana doesn't appear to be as comfortable. A soft breeze blows her hair, and
her eyes go wide open. She sits up nervously, and looks towards the bedroom
door. An eerie orange glow, like that of a fire, illuminates the entryway. She
can hear a voice that sounds like a man shouting coming from somewhere nearby.
Cautiously tiptoeing towards the garden, Sanjana makes her way to the source of
the sound. As luck would have it, there is a real person making all the noise!
Poor Robert is in her greenhouse area, screaming and shouting at the voices he
can't stop hearing.
Sanjana tries to talk to him, but he's pretty far gone. He does recognize her, and says that he knows only the two of them can hear the woman's screams in the night. He begs Sanjana to make the voices stop, or else he will go mad. To illustrate this point, he goes over to the stairs in the garden and picks up a good sized chunk of brick. He begins pounding his head with it as Sanjana sits bolt upright in bed. So... was it a dream?
The
next day Sanjana meets with Priya to tell her the other side to the problems she
knows about. She describes the voices she's heard and the things she's seen.
Priya is sympathetic to her, and says that no matter how outrageous Sanjana's
stories are, Priya believes that Sanjana really does think all of this is real.
She asks her if she's heard of Vaastu Shastra (hey!),
and says that it might be responsible for what is happening to her. Sanjana is not familiar with the science, but Priya says that she knows just
the man for the job. Professor Agni Swaroop!
A jump cut takes us to Agni's first inspection of the house. He does a lot of dramatic standing in front of back-lit open windows filled with smoky cool stuff and looking very stern and authoritative. As he plods through the house, he stares intently at things and looks like he's onto something. After a good long stare out of the window into the yard, he warms his hands at the fireplace.
As
Priya and Sanjana look on, he presses his hands against his face and sighs.
Priya asks him if anything is wrong. Agni tells her that he would like to say
that everything is all right here, but his body tells him that there's a
problem, and "the body never lies." He takes a good long look at Sanjana, and
tells her that he's going to ask her some questions that may seem strange, but
he wants her to think carefully before answering them.
Sanjana steels herself, and says that she's ready. Agni asks her if she believes in ghosts. Before she can reply, he elaborates by saying there are some ghosts that can help us, and others that wish to do us harm. Others just want to finish some incomplete tasks that they could not do while they were still alive.
Sanjana still hasn't answered, so Agni goes through another set of questions similar to how he questioned Rohit in the woods way back when. This time, he has a lot more luck. He asks if strange breezes have been disturbing her, if unpleasant cries and voices have been taunting her, and if she's seen things that were nightmares, but she was certain she was wide awake? Sanjana finally speaks up and says that all of those things have been happening. She wants to know how he knows all this. Agni just says that these are all signs that there is a restless spirit here that is trying to assert itself.
