Murli comes to the jail to get the kids out. Apparently this happens a lot, since Chewte is giving him a hard time. Chewte claims that Murli is taking advantage of them to keep his house on land that is worth a lot of money. He asks Murli why he doesn't close up shop since he is unable to reform this rowdy bunch of kids. Murli counters with the question of why Chewte doesn't close the police station since he can't stop crime. This elicits a loud cheer from the kids in the holding cell but Murli shuts them up. They produce the bail paperwork and the boys are released.

About this time, RJ is also being released from prison. He sees a vendor selling birds in cages. Since he's feeling all metaphorical, he buys all the birds and opens their cages out in the street to free them. As he is doing this, his ear is flipped by Murli who is watching the scene. They have a happy reunion and begin catching up on things. RJ also asks if Bela is back in town after all of her schooling.

Murli takes RJ over to his accommodations. As he is getting settled in, Bela makes her dramatic entrance, much to RJ's (and most guys anywhere) very pleasant surprise. Her smile fades a little as RJ looks at her a little too long with a little too sleazy expression on his face. Murli notices that Bela is reacting to this, and shakes RJ out of his reverie.

RJ jokes about how the "monkey" they used to pick on as kids has turned into such a pretty lady. This breaks the tension and they get back to joking with each other like old times. Murli starts to leave, but Bela tells him that he should stop and eat since she's cooked something today. The whole atmosphere here is that she's really into Murli, but he's too busy with the kids to really pay attention to her. He tells her to feed it to "the one she's cooked it for," and walks out. As soon as he is out of the room, RJ goes back to leering at her. She finally asks him what he's staring at. He goes back to the "you weren't this hot when we were kids" act, and she taunts him by calling him Footpath again. He laughs it off and says he's very happy to see her again, and leans in for a smooch. Instead, she pulls his hair and throws him toward the bed, which he falls right through!

Bela thinks this is hilarious and runs out giggling. RJ has a "what a gal!" moment, then blows us a kiss. This triggers the only response it could - time to dance!

"Phainkh Hawa Mein" starts up with some shots of RJ and Bela on a speedboat out in some gorgeous scenery. It leads to the two of them dancing and singing on the beach. This is a good song. Lots of cool drums and a catchy tune. Arguably my favorite song from the film.

It's tough to tell if the musical part actually happened or if it was a daydream of RJ's. I'm opting for the daydream choice, since it doesn't really have anything to do with the rest of the events.

After the song is over, we see RJ in a phone booth trying to reestablish his contacts with the underworld. He isn't able to get Tech on the phone, and seems a bit frustrated. As he's standing around thinking of what to do next, the Pastel Shirt Mafia is watching him from afar. They goad each other into picking RJ's pocket (they haven't been introduced yet).

One of the purples decides that he's up for the task, and goes in. He does indeed score RJ's wallet. RJ notices shortly thereafter that he's been robbed, and tracks the group to their hideout. As it turns out, they're using the same hiding spot that he and Murli used when they were kids. The boys start looking up to RJ as a guru, and have a little more respect for Murli now that they know he used to be a little less uptight and virtuous.
