Romeo
holds out until Jugran makes a lunge towards the rope with the hatchet. He
shouts for Jugran to stop, and reveals the location of the diamonds. They just
so happen to be in the same building (good thinking Romeo, really). Balwant goes
to verify the claim, and Romeo was not lying - the diamonds are found and
confiscated. Jugran is amused by this little display of sacrifice, and decides
that Romeo has now outlived his usefulness. Jugran tosses his hatchet into the
vat of acid, revealing to the audience a flaw in the set designer's plans - the
acid can't be more than an inch or two deep. Is it that hard to fill up the tank
before we start shooting? Ah well.
Romeo is hoisted up next to Seema over the inches of acid, and they look at each other in a panic. Jugran has someone open a little bottle of acid over the rope jus enough to let a little bit drip out at a time, drawing out the death and giving ample time for something to come along and save them after he's left. I hope no one considers that a spoiler, as it's basically one of the most obvious Villain Blunders ever.
Jugran
tells them what's going on because, well I suppose because he can! The acid will
burn through the ropes, and cause them to fall to their doom. Until then,
they'll have to wait for the inevitable. He claims the waiting is the worst
part, which anyone that's ever been to a doctor's office will agree with. Having
given them a maniacal laugh and a swish of the cape, he's gone.
Seema begins to fret. She looks down, then at the ropes being dissolved, and starts to tear up. Romeo tells her not to look at the bad things, and instead to look at him. He starts telling her a story, much like he did when they were kids. She replies "good" or "bad" to the things he says, and he basically tells her that he loves her, and she replies in kind.
About this time the first few strands of the rope are breaking, and causing the heroes to drop about a foot each time. Romeo quickly asks her to marry him, and she agrees. With that little formality out of the way, it's time for miracles to start happening. Romeo looks over and sees his pigeon Deus Ex Machina, oops, I mean Jango perched on a railing. Hrmm.
The
ropes slip again, and there isn't much time left. Romeo tells Seema not to look
at the impending death, and instead let her last moments of life be filled with
nothing but his face. Seema thinks that's a good idea, and starts staring. Jango
finally gets off his butt and gets to work. We see an elaborate setup in place
for him to "accidentally" set into motion. Jango lands on a large bottle that is
lying on its side. His weight causes it to roll off of the table, and it lands
in a little bucket. The bucket falls over and bumps into some barrels. The
barrels roll across the room and down some ramps, where they knock over a ladder
that happens to fall right across the rim of the tank a fraction of a second
before the ropes break. Romeo and Seema land on the ladder, and scurry off of it
to safety. Uh huh.
Romeo
tells Seema to wait here in case there are any thugs waiting outside, and he'll
go get the car. Romeo runs outside, and finds himself thrown against a fence. He
turns to look down the barrel of Ravi's service revolver. Ravi tells him that
he's finally caught up to the notorious thief, and Romeo says he's ready to
spend a lifetime behind bars. He just doesn't want to start on this particular
day. This leads to a fairly typical kung-fu fight, with an even number of hits
scored by each participant.
During the course of the fight, the key Romeo has worn around his neck the whole movie pops out of his shirt. The chain becomes snarled in Ravi's fingers, and is torn from Romeo's neck. He's about to throw it away when Romeo tells him to wait. Romeo tells him not to throw it away, and calls him his brother.
Ravi looks closely at the key, and realizes who Romeo is. They put aside their differences and have a tearful reunion among the wreckage their battle has caused. Ravi scolds Romeo for knowing they were brothers and not saying anything, but Romeo says he couldn't since he was a crook and Ravi's a cop. Ravi tells him that for every sin that is committed, there is an atonement. He says they'll start by going home to see their mother and sister. Ravi also asks about the stolen diamonds, but Romeo doesn't have them anymore. He tells Ravi that his former employer, Jugran, has them now. With another triple take (thanks editor!) Ravi hauls off and slaps Romeo hard in the face!
