Some
time later we see a man that looks just like Jugran getting out of a car.
Nearby, we see Customs Man and some of his sidekicks watching from a Jeep. They
spot their man and move in to arrest him. When he is brought before the head of
police (I guess. They aren't clear on who this is, but it seems he's Customs
Man's boss) he explains that he is not Jugran - he is his twin brother,
Manmohan. Customs Man politely states his disbelief of this claim (as pictured
to the right).
Manmohan implores them to check with the people and schools of Bangalore, where he and his brother grew up. They will all tell him that he does in fact have an identical twin. Another cop/agent/officer/whatever comes in and says that this is the truth, and Manmohan is not lying. He also adds that this twin brother of his has a history of getting himself into trouble.
After reviewing some of the evidence, the chief/captain/man in charge tells Manmohan that they are very sorry for all of the trouble, but they would appreciate it if Manmohan would alert them if he hears anything of his brother's whereabouts. With that request, Manmohan goes home.
Manmohan
arrives at his house in the midst of a terrible downpour. He lets himself in and
sets down his umbrella. Upon turning on the lights, he sees that he has company
- his evil twin! Manmohan is not at all happy to see his brother, and lets him
know without hesitation. Jugran tells him that he's not too pleased to see his
"idiot" brother either. Manmohan tells Jugran that he should be afraid of what
God will do to him for his misdeeds, but Jugran says he's not worried. He is a
devotee of the Devil, and swears by him.
Jugran says that he didn't know he'd run into Manmohan this night (umm, aren't you in his house?), but since he's here Manmohan might as well get them something to eat. Manmohan says he'll take care of it, and leaves the room.
He sneaks off to make a call to the police. He tells them to come to his house right away and they'll catch Jugran. Unfortunately Jugran overhears this whole conversation, and tells Manmohan that he's going to kill him now. Manmohan tells Jugran that even if he does kill him, he will not escape. The police are already on their way, and will surely catch him. Jugran says this will not be a problem, as he plans to assume Manmohan's identity and will send the police home as if nothing happened.
A short fight breaks out and things go poorly for Manmohan. He takes a bullet to the forehead and that pretty much wraps things up. The rest of the scene goes according to plan, with the police believing that Jugran is Manmohan, and letting him go free. (For the sake of simplicity, I'll be referring to the Jugran/Manmohan role switching as just Jugran. So, stick with me on this as he does flip back and forth a bit.) Jugran meets up with his associates and they decide that the Customs Man was a little more clever than he really needed to be, and that he should be killed for that.
We
cut to some time later, and see a large wedding procession making its way
through the streets of Mumbai. In the busy intersection near the train station,
we see Customs Man leading a small boy through the streets. A little exposition
tells us that this is his son, and that he's traveling without the rest of his
family. Jugran pulls up to where Customs Man can see him, starting an odd, slow
little chase through traffic. I should also point out that Customs Man is
carrying his son for a lot of this!
Customs Man finally sets his son down and tells him to wait for him at the street sign where he dropped him off. He says he'll be right back, so we know it's a matter of time before he's a goner. Customs Man chases Jugran into what appears to be an abandoned amusement park (also a good sign he's about to buy a nice spacious farm with a sturdy bucket to kick).
Jugran starts messing with control booths and flipping switches. Somehow the layout of this park makes him able to completely beat Customs Man up with the rides and attractions, eventually forcing Customs Man onto the Ferris Wheel. Once Customs Man is up in the air, Jugran shuts everything down, and fires three rounds into Customs Man's chest. We see another little boy at the funeral pyre on the beach, being cradled by a woman we've not met.
She
goes to the police station where they tell us (within earshot of the boy) that
Customs Man lived long enough to reveal his killer was Jugran. The boy hears the
name, and files it away. We now learn that this is Customs Man's widow, and the
other boy is the first little boy's brother. She tells the cops that her life is
ruined, and she only wants to be reunited with her missing son, Ramesh. She has
no idea where he could be, as he was traveling without her.
We cut to an orphanage where a large group of children are being led in song by one of the staff. A voice-over explains that Ramesh has been brought here after he was found on the streets. He doesn't know about his father's death, and doesn't know how to contact his family. So, he's staying here for now. The voice-over also tells us that Seema (they call her Simi as a nickname) is here after her mother went insane when she discovered her murdered husband. The two children become friends, and the stage is set for our real story to begin!
