In Ravi's reverie (eh?) we see him as a boy, playing around with his father (Customs Man, if you recall). Also present is a young Ramesh (Romeo). They tell their dad that they want to see this special lock that he's told them about. He presents it to them, and tells them that the key is for Ramesh, and Ravi gets the lock. Without both parts, they are both useless, so in order to use the lock, they'll have to stay together forever! The children enthusiastically agree, and we cut back to the present. Ravi gives the lock a wistful look, but says nothing.
We
jump to a highway where Romeo is cruising along in his little red car. He sees
two other cars stopped on the road, forming a roadblock. He stops his car and
gets out to see what's going on. Jugran's two main hooligans emerge from the
cars and approach Romeo. They ask him if he is in fact the fabled Romeo, but the
answer they get is a little cryptic.
Keshav gets irritated and tells him yes or no answers will be the only available options. Romeo sighs, and says that yes, his name is Romeo. Keshav tells Romeo that means he'll be working with them. Romeo answers "no." Stubble Thug asks him if he knows that he will be well-paid for his services, and Romeo says "yes." Keshav asks him again if he'll work for them. Romeo says "no." Keshav becomes angry and pulls a gun on Romeo and tells him to stop speaking in single word replies, but Romeo says he was told he could only say "yes" or "no," so he was only following orders.
Keshav tells him that they have other ways of getting what they want, and two other guys appear out of nowhere behind Romeo. Romeo turns around and with one punch somehow knocks both of those guys down. He then turns around and takes Keshav's gun out of his hand, and begins smacking him around. Romeo tells Keshav that with the timid approach that they're using, they would be better served with a beggar's bowl than a handgun. He gives the pistol back to Keshav and heads back to his car.
Apparently
they just let him go, as we have a jump cut over to Jugran's house where he's
throwing a colossal fit over their failure to get Romeo on board with their
plans. Oh wait, I just caught a name. Stubble Thug is Balwant. There we go.
Anyway, Jugran is screaming his head off over their incompetence, wondering how
with so many people there they were unable to get Romeo for him.
After exhausting himself by spinning around and shouting "Shame on you!" (seriously) and generally making Keshav feel like an idiot, Jugran collapses on the steps. He whispers to Balwant that he will get Romeo since he's so important to the operation. So, with that being said, let's have a look at our hero.
We cut to Romeo in a phone booth, but we can't hear what he's saying. He intelligently holds the ultra rare and expensive diamond necklace in his hand in broad daylight as he speaks to someone that I assume wants to buy it. All of this is noticed by Seema, who is waiting not too far away. She gnaws on a betel leaf and adjusts her sari for the upcoming stunt she's about to pull.
Romeo hangs up and walks down the street a bit before noticing Seema. He asks her if she's got any new drama for him today, and she assures him that he won't be disappointed. She does offer one last time to call it all off if he will hand over the necklace (which is now stored in Romeo's shirt pocket - security!), but he hasn't changed his mind. He tells her "balls" again, so she says that she'll put on her show. She's entitled the presentation, "The Tale of the Sorrowful Woman."
Seema
begins wailing and sobbing loudly in the middle of the crowded walkway. She
begins going on about how she was robbed, and asks Romeo how he could take
advantage of someone so innocent. She starts getting the attention of nearby
pedestrians who stop to help her. She tells them that she was lured to the city
by Romeo's lies, and went so far as to marry him. Romeo tells everyone that
she's not his wife, and Seema gets even more hysterical. She asks the people how
can he even deny that they are married! She's even got a locket with their
pictures in it hanging from her mangalsutra. She goes
on and on, whipping the crowd into a frenzy of support for her.
She makes her final move by saying that he's even selling her last diamond necklace, and that it's in his pocket. The women in the crowd grab Romeo and pull out the necklace, accusing Romeo of being, among other things, "a son of a gun."
Before
they can go any further, Romeo says that they've heard Seema's side of the
story, but they don't know his. He says that yes, she really is his wife, but
she married him only for the necklace, not for love! When asked what he is
talking about, he says that he swears they've been married for two years, and
she hasn't even given him a kiss! All of the men in the crowd think this is
preposterous, and ask what kind of a wife is she that won't even give her
husband a smooch? They come up with the arrangement that if Romeo gives her the
necklace, she will hug and kiss him in front of everyone. Romeo agrees
immediately to this deal, but Seema puts up a lot of resistance.
Undaunted, Romeo swoops in for the smooch as Seema continues to freak out. He gets a hold of her face and pinches her cheeks, causing her lips to stick out. He leans in and...
Seema sits upright in her bed. It seems it was all a dream. Hrmm.
