At
this suggestion, Antara gets visibly upset. She begins to angrily clear the
table, slamming pans and dishes around in the sink. She refuses to go along with
Shaukat's idea. He asks if she won't do it because she is afraid. She tells him
that she doesn't want to do it because she is happy with her life the way it is.
He tells her that she should meet people with an open mind. He thinks she is
afraid that Yash will make her do things that a married woman should not do. He
tells her that he knows she loves him, but he doesn't know if she really
believes that she does. Shaukat explains that she needs to prove it to herself
by mingling with other people and seeing if she falls in love with someone else.
We also hear him repeating some of the things he's "said" to Tamanna while in
Book Vision to Antara.
I
think it's safe to say that Shaukat is getting a little weird about this. We cut
away to the next day at college. Yash is up to his antics again, telling jokes
and being silly. Antara gets the giggles again and leaves for class while Yash
takes more "mental pictures." Back at home Shaukat is floating around in Book
Vision and asking Tamanna what kind of laugh she has, and if someone is making
her laugh. We also get some rather freaky shots of Shaukat in blazing red light
while he splashes water on his face and stares into a mirror.
Shaukat asks Tamanna who it is that she has found to make her happy. He imagines a man following Tamanna around a large lighthouse and holding her hand. He introduces himself to Yash (the Book Vision Yash, not the real one) and tells him that while he is in Shaukat's World, he is only going through the motions - Shaukat is the one calling all the shots. He then asks BV Yash what he thinks of Tamanna.
We'll
have to wait to find out, since we jump back to the real Yash as he sits on a
park bench with Antara. They talk a little about Yash's family, and he mentions
that he is glad they are far away. His mother is constantly hassling him to get
married, and he says he doesn't want to. Besides, he likes someone else. He
makes a few vague descriptions of his dream woman which while not precisely
matching Antara, they don't exactly sound like someone else either. He asks her
if she could think of any women like the one he is describing, but she doesn't
answer him. Instead, she tells him that today is his lucky day - she's going to
tell him a joke. She starts off with one of the lines that Yash has been using
to start his jokes and they both get the giggles. A few more flirtatious lines
are bandied about, then we cut away to Shaukat who is deeply immersed in Book
Vision.
Shaukat tells BV Yash that he is falling in love. To prove this, we get more scenes of Yash and Antara spending time together and having a blast. Antara leaves early one afternoon leaving Yash to chat with Mrs. Kapadia. She can tell that Yash is up to something and teases him about it.
Back
at the house, Antara and Shaukat are spending some time on the patio and
enjoying the evening air. Antara hears one of the jokes that Yash told her on
the radio, and comments out loud that Yash has been lifting material from other
sources. She goes on to tell Shaukat how all the girls at school are swooning
over Yash. Shaukat asks her how Yash is responding to all the attention. She
tells him that Yash was just telling her today what kind of girl he would like.
Shaukat asks if it was someone like Antara, but she tells him no. She was
thinking that this might be a good time to tell Yash that she is married, but
Shaukat doesn't see why. He says that if Yash is interested in girls that are
not like Antara, there was no point in it. Besides, if he were to know then he
would most likely act differently around Antara. He tells her to relax, but she
seems unsettled. Antara gets up and walks off, leaving Shaukat on the patio with
his cigarette.
After she is gone, Shaukat begins talking to himself about how she is reacting to her situation. He tells himself with a smug grin that this discomfort is normal. After all, she is heading into some forbidden territory. He says that it is not time to tell Yash the truth, but Shaukat will dictate when that time shall be.
