With
a rather ominous tone, the school bell sounds later that afternoon. Gehna
notices Mahek and Suraj are walking very close together through the halls, and
overhears them making plans to meet up later. Gehna smirks to herself and heads
off to the next class. The class is some kind of gym class, as everyone heads
off to the locker room. Gehna calls over to Mahek and asks her with a leering
tone, "what's the buzz, babe?" Mahek tells her to quit it, but Gehna is too
amused by what she's seen and presses the issue.
Mahek finds it ironic that she's getting all this flak about Suraj from Gehna,
who traditionally has warned Mahek about the boys being after one thing and one
thing only. Gehna seems to think that Suraj is different from those other boys,
and says that he deserves a chance. An announcement comes over a loudspeaker in
the room and Gehna says she has to go. Before she leaves the room, Mahek tells
her that she's still freaked out about the phone call she got in the store the
other day. The caller knew more about the case than he should have, and the
things he said were very cruel.
Gehna
responds almost angrily, asking her why she's still worried about all of that.
She is convinced that one of the guys they know is just doing it as a prank to
mess with her. Gehna takes off with a smile to do whatever she was going to do,
leaving Mahek behind feeling a little foolish, but not as afraid. That lasts for
about ten seconds, when she hears her name being spoken in the caller's voice
coming over the loudspeaker.
Mahek turns to stare in shock at the speaker on the wall, and hears her name
called two more times. Many moments pass as Mahek looks at the speaker, not
wanting to believe that this is really happening. After a long silence from the
speaker, a loud scream is heard being broadcast all over the campus. Everyone in
the various classrooms and offices looks up in surprise, and Mahek drops her
purse, spilling the contents all over the floor.
A
new voice begins speaking over the P.A. This time it's the head of the school,
explaining that someone was playing a prank in his office, and there is no
danger. Mahek breathes a sigh of relief, then slowly stoops to pick up her
belongings. As she is occupied with this task, she fails to notice the robed
figure emerging from one of the stalls. The Joker tiptoes over towards Mahek,
getting closer and closer to his oblivious target. Just as he begins to raise
his trusty knife, there comes a loud clatter from the door to the locker room.
A woman in a sari bursts through and shrieks when she sees Mahek on the
floor, but there is no sign of the Joker! Man he's quick! The woman (Mrs. Roy,
we're lead to believe) and Mahek exchange some pleasantries as Mahek finishes up
her collection. Mrs. Roy is of the belief that the discipline in the college has
gone to the dogs, and that those pranks need to be brought under control! Mahek
excuses herself from the room, as Mrs. Roy continues her rant to no one in
particular. She concludes with "those boys are going to kill someone someday,"
and heads off towards the stalls.
She
catches a whiff of something unpleasant and pulls a can of air freshener from a
holder on the wall. After spraying it liberally down the aisle of stalls, she
hears a male cough coming from one of them. She's convinced that a young frisky
couple has sequestered themselves in one of the hideaways for a little alone
time, and sets about finding them. She makes her way down the row, pushing in
each door as she goes. Eventually she comes upon one that doesn't open fully,
and she pounds on it to open up. The door opens just a little bit - enough to
see about half of her face, and she tries to peek inside. She's met by the blade
of the knife, traveling at high speed. It
plunges into her eye and is forced
through her skull, emerging on the other side. The camera lingers on her face as
she screams, and a little trickle of blood begins to fill the lines of her face.
