The
thug's name is actually Ranga, but everyone else thinks he's just Ram Avtar, the
helpful servant. He walks around the table putting down food, and says that even
though Laxmandas might yell a lot, he knows that he is well-liked by him.
Laxmandas compliments Ranga on his loyalty, and says that he feels as though
he's a part of the family. Ranga makes the ominous statement that he will stay
with the family as long as he is destined to, then walks out of the room. He
keeps on walking, leaving the house and crossing the street to use a phone
booth. He dials a number, and the phone inside Laxmandas' dining room begins
ringing. Laxmandas picks up the receiver, and the entire house explodes!
We cut to the briefing room at police headquarters where Commissioner Mathur is claiming that this act of violence is the beginning of World War III. (I think he might be overestimating things here.) He harps on the assembled cops for a while, and we get a look at one that seems a bit shifty. He tells them that if they can't find out who is carrying out these acts of terrorism, then they should all resign. How that would help, I'm not quite sure. But whatever. He seems sincere.
We
cut to a darkened street as a solitary figure strides purposefully down the lane
toward us. Most of us that are familiar with this actor can already tell it's
Sunny Deol by his uniquely shaped hair. He balls his hands into fists and pounds
on a wooden door with a panel in it. We get a few disturbing close-ups of his
mouth as he chews on a matchstick and waits for someone to answer his summons.
After he spits out the stick a face appears at the panel in the door. The man looks Karan up and down, and asks him what he wants. Karan explains that he heard he could buy a gun here, and was interested in doing so. The man tells him to bug off. Karan holds up a big stack of cash and says that he wants a revolver worth 5000 rupees, but he's willing to pay four times that.
This
gets the arms dealer's attention, and he lets Karan into the showroom. He takes
a cover off of a crate full of guns and the men begin looking through them.
Karan casually picks up a revolver and starts loading it while the dealer goes
on and on about how good his weapons are. Karan takes the pistol he's been
fiddling with and points it in the dealer's face, and asks him how much damage
it would do while only ten centimeters from his head?
We cut to an interrogation room at police headquarters. By "interrogation room," I mean of course a room with a dentist's chair and heat lamps where Karan beats information out of you. Karan spends a few moments pummeling Mr. Arms Dealer while Srikant the reporter from the press conference encourages him to do so until they get some good info out of him. Why they'd let a reporter be a part of this, I'm not quite sure.
Karan
tells Srikant that he'll use this traitor to locate and hang all of the others.
This is enough to make Srikant feel good about what's going on, so he takes
off. As he leaves, we see Shady Cop (oops, just caught a name. He's Suraj
Singh.) watching him leave. Suraj goes into Commissioner Mathur's office to
complain about how the prisoners are being treated. He says that by using
terrorist tactics to get information out of them, they're no better than the
criminals they are trying to catch.
We leave this tense scene to rejoin Karan and Mr. Arms Dealer. He throws MAD into a holding cell and says that it seems no amount of physical violence can persuade him to reveal any new information. So, Karan is going to exploit a new angle - MAD's sister Natasha. This gets a reaction out of MAD, who looks up in alarm. Karan says that he'll go to Natasha and tell her everything that MAD has done, completely spoiling her image of her perfect brother. This will cause her to reject his blood money, and end up working in a brothel to support herself. Seems to me like a lot of assumptions, but it looks like it might work.
