Mr. Arms Dealer tells Karan to stop - he's heard enough. He tells Karan that he only has one dream in his life, and that is his sister's happiness. Karan says that if MAD cooperates, then he won't have to witness his sister's suicide! Karan then promises to release MAD once all of the bad guys have been apprehended. MAD asks him if he really intends to keep this promise, and Karan tells him that that's why he hasn't registered a case against him.
Let's think about that for a second. Karan is holding MAD in jail, has been beating him since last night, and hasn't even booked him? It only gets more humorous with what he says next...
Karan
tells MAD that he is an upholder of the law! He says he'll do anything to catch
these traitors. MAD seems to "see the light" here and says that he'll cooperate.
He tells Karan that he gets his shipments of weapons from several small-time
sources, but there's no point in tracking those down. He instead suggests that
Karan go for the main source.
According to MAD, the ship that brings in all of the weapons docks "every moonless night" down at Uran. Karan ponders this when the meeting is interrupted by another cop. He tells Karan that the Commissioner has called for him, and he's got to go.
We cut to the interior of a car where the Commissioner and Karan are discussing the most recent developments in the arms dealer case. Commissioner Mathur asks him why he gets so worked up while questioning the suspects, and warns him to be careful. He cautions Karan that the force he's using can turn into a noose around his own neck. Karan boldly asserts that he's not afraid of any repercussions of his methods.
They
arrive at their destination as Mathur explains that this is the most important
day of Karan's life. We cut to the inside of the house where we see Mathur's
wife, their daughter Divya, and Karan's father all waiting somewhat impatiently
for the men to arrive. When they do, they waste little time in getting down to
business. Divya and Karan are getting engaged! They go through the placing of
rings on their fingers, and things seem to be going well.
That is until the question is asked as to the whereabouts of Divya's brother, Ravi. As if on queue (well I suppose it was!) Ravi marches into the room looking a bit worse for wear. He's bruised and bloody, and looks like he's generally had a bad time of it.
Mathur
comments on his disheveled appearance and wonders what he's been up to. Ravi
lets us know that he's been fighting tonight, and he'd have killed the other guy
if he'd had more time. When pressed for an explanation, Ravi says that there
were some poor people being hassled for protection money by some neighborhood
thugs. He stood up for them and fought the thugs off.
Mathur takes offense at the implied accusation at the police force's ability to protect people, and asks why Ravi feels his job is to take the law into his own hands. Ravi says that the police only show up after an incident and can't do anything about it, whereas the person who shows up before the problem is a real human being. Mrs. Mathur steps in and stops the argument, saying that tonight is meant to be a celebration, so they drop it for now.
Ravi
goes over to Karan and Divya as the other people leave the room to have some
desserts. They make some small talk about how Divya is going from one police
family to another. Ravi says that even though Karan is a police officer, he
still considers him to be a good man, a good friend, and hopefully a good
husband for his sister.
Ravi asks Divya how she feels about this, and she tells him that she'll talk to him once he starts behaving himself. Ravi takes the hint that he's not wanted around here, and casually strolls out of the room saying that if he stays any longer, he'll go crazy.
