We cut to the police station where Karan is leaving for the day. Ramesh and Raghav walk over to where Karan is mounting his motorcycle, and Ramesh tells Karan that he changed his life. He's brought his "cousin" Raghav to the police to confess some of his wrongdoings. He goes on for a while, asking Karan to forgive Raghav's crimes and leave him in Ramesh's care. Karan seems as lost as the rest of the audience, and simply says that Don's case is coming up tomorrow, and he needs to get ready for it. With that, he pulls away. Suraj the Dirty Cop leans out of the doorway and blows some smoke around while weird sounds ride roughshod over the soundtrack.

With that confusing scene over with, we cut to what I assume is the next day. We see Ramesh in court, on the witness stand. He's being questioned by a lawyer in Don's trial. The lawyer asks if it is true that Ramesh had been arrested by Inspector Karan. Ramesh says this is a fact. When asked why he was arrested, Ramesh lies and says that he doesn't know. This causes Karan to look up in surprise. The lawyer makes sure the court gets it that Ramesh was arrested "without cause," then lets Ramesh step down. As he does so, he glances at Karan who gives him the stink-eye.

The next person to be called is Karan. This is about when I noticed that the judge is actually Karan's father! I'm not exactly sure of the legal ramifications of this, but it does seem to me that this is a bad idea. Were there no other judges available to hear this case?

The lawyer asks Karan why he brought Ramesh into jail, and he replies that he was a gun smuggler. He is then asked if any charges were formally filed to confirm this story. Karan looks guilty and shifts around a little before he admits that he did in fact not file the charges. He says that he didn't because catching one small-time arms dealer wouldn't stop the problem, and he wanted to use Ramesh to get to the source of the weapons.

The lawyer takes this fact and goes off on a bit of a rant saying that Karan completely mishandled this case, and by doing so failed to convict Ramesh as an arms dealer and also failed to officially make him a police informant. Therefore both he and Don should get off scot-free. He also adds that Karan is the real criminal in this instance, but he is interrupted mid-sentence by Inspector Suraj bursting into the room with Raghav in handcuffs!

Raghav is dragged up to the judge's bench and confesses his nefarious deeds. As Raghav makes his way to the front of the room, there are lots of gasps and swiveling heads, and a poorly concealed payoff from Suraj to the lawyer (who politely thanks him!). Evil Bribed Lawyer then begins making a case for Raghav right in the middle of the proceedings for Don, and generally flushes the whole legal process down the toilet. In his questioning of Raghav (who appears to be a mute) he confirms that Suraj caught him red-handed with illegal arms, and also that he has known Karan for five years.

Karan yells out that this is not true. He says that he only met Raghav yesterday at the police station when his cousin Ramesh introduced them, and told him that Raghav is a very outspoken person. The lawyer says that Raghav has been a mute since he was born and is of no relation to Ramesh, so clearly Karan doesn't know what he's talking about. Makes sense to me! (sigh)

Evil Bribed Lawyer says that all of this has been arranged to hide crimes that Karan and Ramesh were up to. He says that the two of them brought Ramesh in as a false informer to implicate other people, and poor little Don was an unfortunate victim of this scheme. He rambles on for too long and basically lies his head off about Don and what he was doing. He also hands the judge a stack of photos (all are of the same shot, yet there are about twenty copies) of Raghav and Karan shaking hands at the police station. Somehow this is bulletproof evidence that Karan is pure evil, and Don gets off the hook. Raghav gets eight years in prison, and the cops are encouraged to take severe actions against Karan for his misbehavior.

We cut to the Mathur residence where Divya tells her father that this is all just a plot by the gangs in town to trash Karan's name and with any luck get him sent off to jail. Commissioner Mathur tells Divya that Karan was a loose cannon to begin with, and this is what he gets for his questionable practices.

A jump cut takes us to the home of the judge, who turns to see Ramesh walking into his study. How Ramesh got into the judge's home is not discussed, but I'd certainly wonder if I were him. Ramesh tells the judge that he made a big mistake in court today. Ramesh explains the whole thing, and the judge realizes what has happened.

Over at Bhujang's house the gang is all gathered to celebrate Don's release. They look around and notice that one person is conspicuously absent - Ramesh. Bhujang realizes that this must mean Ramesh was the guy who tattled, and lets the rest of us know that Ramesh doesn't need to worry much about living for too long. He tells the others that he knows where Ramesh will be, so we cut there now.
