We
see a shadow covering the floor of Virag and Jhil's room. It moves irregularly
across the floor until we see the parents sleeping. This little gotcha turns out
to be Rohan, who is there to wake his parents up. Virag asks him what's going
on, and Rohan reports that "the bad man" has been spotted in Radz's room. In
said room, Radz is making a sweep of the area, calling out to the presence she
senses. She checks in her bathroom, and then closes the door. As she walks away
from it, the bathroom door silently opens again, and we see Radz from the door's
POV. The shot gets closer and closer to the back of her head, and a hand reaches
out to tap her shoulder. Radz almost jumps out of her skin when she feels this,
and she whips around to see... Murli. She asks him what he's doing there, and he
says that he's not seen her for days, and missed her very much. Radz softens a
little at this, but there is an untimely knock on the door before they can do
anything else.
They stash Murli under the bed, and Radz opens the door. The rest of the family is out in the hall, and they barge in to her room to investigate "the bad man" sighting. We gather from the conversation that Jhil hasn't been briefed on the case, so she claims ignorance when Radz asks her what they're doing in here. Virag explains to her that Rohan thought that someone was in Radz's room with her, and that she may be in trouble. Radz gets nervous, and says that she's all alone in there, and there's nothing to worry about. Rohan defiantly states that he saw someone in here, but the family takes him out of the bedroom. As the parents take him away, Rohan repeats his claims that there's someone in here, but they fall on deaf ears. We catch a glimpse under the bed as they leave, revealing that Murli is no longer down there.
Radz
checks under the bed as soon as the coast is clear, and discovers that Murli is
missing. She turns towards the bathroom where Murli spooks her again. They
playfully tease each other and call Murli "the bad man," before beginning to
frolic on the bed. As the camera pulls back, we see the real "bad man" lingering
outside of her open window, staring in at the youngsters.
The next morning, Jhil talks with Rohan over breakfast. She tells him that both Mommy and Daddy have to go out today, and he is to be a good boy for Auntie Radz. A little expository cell phone conversation fills us in on the errands. Virag is going to see his publisher and Jhil is just going to work. She is also going to speak to a psychiatrist that morning at eleven.
Back
inside, Radz makes a covert appointment of her own, and tells Murli that she
will meet with him that evening. She then joins Rohan as he is coloring pictures
of his friends, Manish and Jyoti. Rohan says they are no longer his friends.
Radz looks puzzled, and asks him what happened. Rohan says that they are angry.
In fact, all of them are angry. Radz looks a bit concerned at this point,
and asks him who he is talking about. Rohan leans in and whispers to her that he
means all of the people that live in their house with them. Now completely
confused, and starting to look just a little bit frightened, Radz asks him what
he's talking about.
Rohan
continues his urgent whispering. He says that they watch them, and at night when
everyone is asleep, they roam angrily around the house. He then points out a few
of their favorite spots to hang out, and then mentions that they even come into
her room too. He shows her how they stare at them in the night, and Radz looks
genuinely freaked out. She tells Rohan that this is nonsense, but that doesn't
stop him. He says that even just the night before, "the bad man" was in her room
with her.
At this part of the story, Radz assumes that he's talking about hearing Murli the night before, and that his active little imagination has been filling in the rest for him. Radz tells him that there is no bad man in the house, but Rohan protests and shows her a crayon drawing he made of him. Radz tells him to be silent, and reminds him that his mother told him not to make up stories. As she does this, we see a view from one of the bedrooms, and a pair of feet go rushing past the camera.
We join the parents later that day as they drive home from their appointments. Jhil says that the psychiatrist suggests that Rohan is experiencing waking dreams and hallucinations, and he should come in to have an appointment. In the meantime, they are to keep Rohan active and engaged, and not to leave him alone or idle.
